I have a Vox phone, all setup and working like a charm.
The problem is I just have 384 line and as soon as I use the line for downloads or youtube my phone line get all funny.
I want to set my system up so as soon as I use the phone all downloads stop or get throttled until I am done on the phone and then they can go on.
I have a Linksys WRT45GL Ap connected to a Dlink DSL2500U ADSL Modem

I am very new at QoS, I tried QoS via MAC address but ether i did it wrong but it did not work like i wanted it to

My PC and the VOiP Phone is connected to the Linksys

I run dd-wrt.v24_voip_generic firmware on the Linksys but Milkfish SIP Router is greek to me.

you need to setup QoS in your ADSL router,

All traffic to port 5060, and your providers IP address has to be set on premium QoS.

The best ADSL router with really good QoS I have worked with are the Billion 74xx series.

What I suggest you do is take the ADSL router to where you bought it from and ask them to do it for you.

Hi mo_to

I bought the router in DBN and i am in Freestate hence the question here, i need help

Hi Henk

I tried with MAC Address:
I added my Phone 's MAC and my Nic's MAC and set the priority to phone to premuim and my Nic to standard. I fired my Grabit up so that i can see what the QoS does to the line when i make or get a call, but with NNTP running at 330 Full line speed, when i get or make a call it just drops to about 300. I want it to DROP to about 50.

Next i tried the priority by Service
There after all the set up i get the same result even if i put NNTP on Bulk

My QoS Settings
Port .. WAN
Packet Scheduler .. HTB
Uplink .. 109
Downlink .. 372

I Installed Tomato on the Linksys, the QoS is a bit easier to understand and setup, i will report back

Seems like it is working now, with NNTP running at full when make a call, Tomato restricts the flow on port 119 (NNTP) and release bandwidth for VOiP, just a bit slow. But it works nice.
One thing i learned, you must work with you upload speed not the download speed. If you send less requests you receive less packets.
I must just fine tune it now.
