Hi y'all

I've set up a crypto wallet, Tronlink. I've been paid just over 100 dollars in USDT into my wallet.
Now to send or withdraw I need to activate my wallet, which is done by someone sending you any amount of TRX.
That's the only way I can see that you active it.
Can someone send me 1 TRX? I Believe it's just over R1. Then I'll pay them back when I'm able to withdraw my USDT

I don't understand, why do you need to activate the wallet? And you were paid in USDT? Any decent ETH wallet where you control your keys can handle that but the fees (in ETH) are insane so I'd rather use a Binance or Valr address where it can be easily converted into something cheaper or withdrawn and you don't need separate ETH to send or withdraw.

I don't know why I have to activate it, when I click on send I get the message "This account is not activated, so transfers cannot be made. Please deposit TRX to activate the account"

I don't see the option to deposit. Upon googling I read to activate you need someone to send you TRX.

Yes USDT.

You are right 1 TRX is about R1.20 but on Binance you can only send 2 and the fee is 1-2.14 so it's about R5. Not a big amount and I wouldn't have minded but there are other problems.

What are the fees for sending the USDT and in what are they paid? Tronlink seems to work with TRX so it still baffles me why you chose a proprietary web wallet rather than an ordinary trusted one like Exodus or an exchange. I suggest you first do some more homework and get these answers before going further and just pump in funds.

Perhaps it's not a bad idea to create an exchange account on Binance or Valr. I can't see the option though to withdraw TRX from Valr as it's disabled for me. Then make sure you get the networks right, ETH vs TRX vs BSC.

Not sure what the fees for sending are or you mean *in what are they paid".
I just want to get this money in my hand, I'll setup a different wallet in future.
Whatever it costs you, I'll definately pay you back many times that.
If I struggle to withdraw I might even need to, once my wallet is active. Send the crypto to someone and they pay me for it. (them making profit for the deal obviously) maybe you would be keen?

Tronlink seems to work on the Tron network so fees are paid in TRX like fees on the ETH network are paid in ETH. So you need more than 1 TRX but we have no idea how much. That means not just activating your wallet but having enough TRX for fees. So it's either one large sum or smaller ones until you have enough.

This is why I suggest rather having an exchange account so you can buy enough before transferring the USDT and then the remaining TRX back before converting it again and withdrawing it. You need one in any case if you want to withdraw your USDT to a bank account.

See on tronlink I am able to transfer my USDT to TRX, but I have to activate my account first.
So I think I just need to activate the account and whatever TRX fees after that I can swop myself from my USDT

You mean convert to TRX? You can either convert through some method to TRX or send on the TRX network in which case it still remains as USDT. In both cases though you need to know what you want to do with it and where to send it or it might as well remain in your wallet for now.

I want to help you here but you don't seem to know how this works or what you want to do with it. Also Tron seems to use energy/bandwidth and if you don't have enough you have to pay it in TRX with high fees. It's the same mess we have with EOS where you have to buy and sell stuff to do transactions and then always end up with something that's stuck and can't be moved out. In EOS I managed to use a service to sponsor CPU and NET but still am stuck with some memory being taken up by garbage tokens.

Yes I meant convert, swap, which they call it.
I know what I want to do. Get the money. I think all I need for that to happen is for someone to send me 1 TRX

It's not so simple. You still haven't said how you want to "get" the money. The only way to ultimately get it is with an exchange account in which case you could also use it to buy and send the TRX.

Regardless after you have the 1 TRX it's useless and you still need more for fees. Fees are apparently more if you don't have enough energy/bandwidth. I don't know how much a USDT transfer is but it's likely more than a TRX transfer which doesn't help you because a conversion to TRX is multiple times that of a transfer. I suggest before doing anything you check maybe how much the transfer to your address cost and then how much other transfers and conversions are.

I'm confused. That shows the fee taken by the swap but there's no info on the network fee.

I can send you the TRX but then you also need bandwidth and energy and TRX for fees. Binance also doesn't let me buy just 1 but I have to buy $1 minimum.

*I'm also still perplexed how you plan on "getting" your money as every means of doing so would enable you to send the TRX yourself unless you plan on using it to buy something.

Yeah I really chose a **** wallet, it was the first option on the page of recommended wallets from the peeps who paid me tho.

It's been so frustrating, thus far, getting into crypto. I feel like a baby who's trying to walk but keeps moering down
