Recently we have seen what happens when the public is unhappy ,be it wage disputes or whatever. South Africans know how too "toi toi" when they are unhappy. We as the broadband community have too stop moaning on groaning on forums and take REAL action, we must consider also organizing a march or protest of some kind. Something concrete that will make news headlines and front pages, we must show the Government that we are no longer willing too accept the blatant disregard for us as consumers.

I say we and organize a protest and rally as many people as we can too this cause the only way something will happen is if we as the public make it happen!!

I also wanted to post a nasty comment, but decided that it would be morally wrong to be nasty to an already disadvantaged individual...

:D

Excuse me

Cheez guys I am trying too get a real point across here and excuse me if english is not my 1st language . Where are these huge spelling errors anyway?

Thanks!

Thanks for making me feel like an idiot on my 1st post guys really appreciate it, no wonder this country is a joke nobody takes anything seriously. It really is a lovely supportive community you guys have going here, just because someone made some minor spelling errors does not make them disadvantaged ekkesa! I am not sure I even want too stick out my neck again on this forum if this is the kind of responses I get. Utterly childish!!!!

Relax MJ512. Your suggestion is a noble one. Don't stress about typos!

But you have to remember that not all south africans take part in so called "peaceful protests" or for that matter "toi toi" to get things sorted out.

I also thought that dissing the poor guy for bad spelling was a cheap shot.

I reckon we should protest against those that protest;)

I'm picketing at my desk right now:p

I suggested a bit of mass action (not necessarily a march, preferably something innovative and news-worthy) many many moons ago, so I'm fully behind you. It's a fact that most members here are able to afford our expensive broadband, and are therefore less likely to do something about the high prices etc. It's far easier to make snide comments and bitch & complain.

I understand what you are saying MrH, all I am really saying is that we need to do something to get this subject into the public eye.

I will relax now but we are not children here, everybody has made a spelling error at some point and there is no need to mock them because of it, I am Afrikaans and not ashamed of it.

I think most of us here scrape through with 384 and 512 ;) (well I do anyway)..

Protest sounds good and shame on you guys for dissing a new member like that.

RPM has apparently corrected all your spelling errors, so I can't comment on them, except to say that your posts since then have been well written... and there's certainly no reason to be ashamed of being Afrikaans. I could never express myself clearly in your mother tongue, and wouldn't dare try.

I also scrape through on a 512, though I recently read that for only R33 more a month I can upgrade to a 1-4mbit connection at Axxess.

Things like this help but paying for ADSL line rental is actually wrong in the 1st place. I am not saying we have a huge strike but somehow we have too get this issue noticed by the wider SA public.

We all agree but it's not as easy as it sounds.

What ever happened to the TAG campaign anyway?

Also, the Free Bandwidth Campaign fell through, nothing happened.

ADSL Regulations did nothing.

Neotel is alive but in a coma.

GTS/Goal is the company version of Person.

ECN has nothing tangible.

One price ADSL is a pain in the ass since you have to CANCEL your existing ADSL to move to another ISP.

Basically, nothing has worked.

feo I agree with your sentiment 100%.

It is very difficult to remain optimistic about anything happening in the light of, all that has not happened. We have been at the recieving end of so much spin, blatant lies and incompetence for so long, it has left me with not much hope for the future of BB in SA.

MJ512 you are probably right, we should maybe all stand up and start throwing our toys out the cot, but will it really make a difference? Maybe blocking the BMT lane on the N2 in Cape Town will get some responses...hmm yes like being thrown in jail.

I'm going to toi toi at my desk and set my paper bin on fire :) Maybe I'll also add a nice adsl message to everyone's email disclaimer at work :D

Join your local wug people! We will build our own internet with high speed wireless links, where each member only pays a once off fee for their own hardware of choice! We don't need the internet!!

Seriously, I really don't spend as much time on the internet as I once did, all thanks to Jawug, and more often than not, if I need to download a linux distro, or a service pack for instance, chances are someone already has it - and I get to download it at 11mbps!
