I'm looking for an aftermarket cooler for my 2500k. My concern is not having to take out the m/board to put a backing plate on as I it's not an option for me. I can't remember if taking off the side panel gives me access to the area around the back of the CPU or not, will need to check.

Can anyone recommend a good cooler that doesn't require installing a backing plate on the back side of the m/board?

I seem to remember there might have been a similar thread to this but can't find it.

Thanks.

i highly doubt removing the other side panel will reveal the back of your motherboard, there is another plate there onto which the motherboard mounts.

why dont u want to take the back cover off?

Motherboard tray cut outs.

@South_Bit: Your CM692 Advanced has a motherboard tray cut out, so you can install coolers without removing the mobo.

My recommendation on a budget is still the CM Hyper 212+ Evo. Depends how much you want to spend!

Depends on the mobo, all my cases have had cutouts, but never in the correct place. Always off center. Stripping and rebuilding the PC is quick to do....

CM Hyper 212+ best bang for buck.

ok what I meant was... Why dont you wanna take the mobo out... takes like 5 min :)

Lol, killer lus? Recovery parts that should be fiddled with as little as possible? Eish, don't know, all I know is it's not an option.

Yes, that's the term I was after, the cut outs. Thanks PP. I know it's got them, just need to check they are in the right place on the CM692.

Had a 212 on the old system and worked well, but had to take the mobo out as there were no cut outs. Will investigate later. Thanks.
