Iburst 2mb/s service

It doesnt. We are the only country with that problem because we are the only country with such restrictive access and especially caps.
I'm just wondering if WBS are actually fine with me going over my cap by say a gig, plenty of people here do it (or worse) and according to them we are allowed 2gigs after the cap whith their 3gig package. So am I actually angering anyone by using almost 2gigs over the cap, which I have also never nearly come close to.

When i signed up, there was no official policy on how much you could use after the cap. I was just told that after you reach your cap, you move onto the throttled service until the end of the month. Now i would be to scared to go over my cap by more than 500meg just in case you're marked as an abuser and cut off after cap. As far as I know there is still no Acceptable Usage policy.

Not even Iburst to Iburst is allowed after the cap now...pffff:mad:

You know, this may just be a sneaky business from WBS (however unlikely it is from the bunch of retards they are). Just think of it this way. If u have say a 1gig cap, and suddenly they bump u up to 2mbps, you are going to be always going over your cap, so therefore you are going to either buy more bandwidth per month, or bump up your contract. Hence they get alot more money!

Think about it...

I honsestly dont think that the whole abuser thing is as serious as people make it out to be. Yes i was killed for a day, but after a bit of arguing over the phone and a short conversation with Shaun Green, everything miraculosly went back to normal.

I doubt an increase in speed from 1mbit is going to lead to vastly different surfing habits that 1gig caps become at risk

I concur

I remember wbs saying 64k is unlimited and sure enough I go far over my cap every month and no problems. Well...I had no http access for a day, but that was sorted with a phone call and sum bugging for a day. :p

Great, thanks now I can get capped without having to worry too much, I was always really nervous about that just in case but it is pretty stupid, i mean they advertise that service yet i'm scared to use it! And yes they do say the service is unlimited on 64kb so i dont really get their problem... shouldn't they have forseen this happening? They should have been open about it if they were going to hard cap people cause most of those people wouldn't have signed up then

My friend in Aussie says his iBurst goes up to 5mb/s. Now with ADSL offering a 1024 line, WBS better do something quick before i apply for it - cos ive just about had enough...

By the time they implement the 2mbps service I should already be in the UK soaking up all the bandwidth with my 24mbps line, or at the least a 8mbps line.

So long, brother and when we are having a braai next to the pool, watching rugby and cricket soaking up the sun and being a true South African, you will still be stuck in your cold and dingy 2 * 2 meter square room. Who cares about a 24 meg line, there are only so many hour you can sit indoors. :D

Totally agree, love south africa! but might get shot down for saying that in here, i geuss the telecoms and government etc. are a problem but fuk it i'm staying here! Get pretty irratated by every one saying they cant wait to leave the country and stating internet as a major reson to leavr their country.

Compared to the amount of bandwidth one can get in the UK you can SUCK all that through your phat pipe and have good old South Africa right there in your 2x2 cell.

Lol...I don't care much for rugby/cricket. As for the weather/living conditions.....well the weather here is better but the living conditions there is better. And by some chance if I decide to watch something on TV I will be able to do that on my big plasma screen :D Houses there are not all small, I have no idea where you got that from?

All jokes aside. I love South-Africa, but living conditions here have pushed me away. After living in London for 2 years have opened my eyes. Coming back after 2 years was like stepping in to a time machine and rewind everything 10 years. Sure we are on the cutting edge with certain things, but only where there's a big market. Examples could be cars/mobiles/pc's. Don't even get me started on the crime and corruption!

I have to go where I can have the best opportuneties and make the most of my life. I only see harder times ahead in sunny SA. I'm sick of feeling like I'm going to be hijacked when I stop at robots, I'm sick of feering for my pc and equipment to be stolen when I leave the house.

Baah...enough of that, every one has to do what's right for them.

Anyway.. back to the 2mbps service for a second. You'll see on the iburst site that they are doing major network upgrades for three hours a week for two months, could this maby be to implement the 2mb technology/upgrade?
Wondering what else could take them that long to do?
This will be finished on the last day of this year, maby WBS are gonna surprise us with a christmas present of 2mb?

Dont care about any sport either by the way! and really into my music so it would be great to go see international bands overseas and be able to start a band that can go somewhere... but i'm still not vloeking this country and wanting to leave it.

Nice...but unlikely :P

I do recall some wbs guy mentioning a 2mbps service some time next year. That could be a year from now :(

I wonder how much it would cost them to go to 2mbps.

Kinda of doubt it as well.. cant wait for it anyway though, i dont feel all important anymore now that i dont have the fastest connection in SA.
It shouldn't really cost them too much, just up the amount of bandwidth on their network... the whole hardware infrastructure might not even need to be upgraded. But i dont actually have a clue
