iBurst Accounts Suspended Without Warning

Im still curious as to practically what happens next to users who do purchase more b/w - is it a case of when that amount is used, you have no internet access again?

And you have to go through the whole saga again, with this constant overpriced buying of b/w just to have an 'always on' connection?
 
well apparantly the help desk people didn't even know this was going to happen untill this morning

Well well, after reading this I am gonna ask Shaun to re-activate my account by the end of this week or I will cancel, 24 months contract or not - i'll even deliver the UTD personally with a nice little letter atached.
This was uncalled for WBS!!! Now suffer the consequences, I hope something goes to the media or public - I am definately telling everybody I know about this.

well, IBurst changed the rules - and more importantly, decided to remove all net access once their cap is reached. I didnt sign on for that. Who would??

Why must I have to worry about my b/w usage - in order to make sure I have internet access? I'm not interested in doing IBursts job for them.

Sentech taught me - take your money to somewhere else, don't waste energy on wrestling with pigs, they enjoy it - you just get dirty. Take money to somewhere else where you know exactly how you're going to get scr*wed - no surprises, like this morning gave a lot of us..

So yeah, called the adsl line to start the process - but as I said, they're closed right now :P

Nah man Linux doesnt count lol. :D thewre are like 4 people in the world using that ha ha.

How much did that take up bandwidth wise?
And you can get all of that on disc anyways?
And that sort of makes my point, once you have downlaoded that how often will you be using that type of bandwidth? every month?
im talking of in excess of 10 gig , some guys here mention 50 + gig... and then to be really pissed of because you are capped, means i can only assume you want to do another 50 gig plus next month? come on dont kid yourself, its not possible to be totaly legal software for local use.
 
Opensource fan here too, not in the Linux means though. I am always hunting for a freebie as opposed to a monopoly based piece of software. Quite easy to rack up 10gb, I think.
 
wls - its really irrelevent as to WHAT people are using their bandwidth to download - and - why so focused on trying to determine the content of what people are downloading?
You somehow wanting to try and make IBursts case for them, that there is any possible justification for their disconnections of customers?

I download old radio shows and audiobooks, I can easily download vast gigs worth of these alone. I'm sure others have equally odd and quirky things they download regularly - totally unconnected to illegal anything.

Trying to suggest that it must be illegal software and warez, is arguing that Ibust could possibly have a justification for their stupid, unethical changing of their advertised service to signed up customers.
 
Why is our internet so screwed up in SA...Now I have to depend on Telscum again. Phoning ADSL tomorrow.
 
1 porn site can have up to 160 gigs worth of movies and pictures

I have access to several of them, I can literally leave my connection on for months and let it download JUST porn. Porn which is legal to anyone above the age of 18 and living in South Africa.

I also download new mySQL releases, virus updates, emails (about 400 meg a day on only emails), open source software (i'm a programmer), linux distros, the odd tv show (love mcguyver and if you argue it's illegal, I'll hit you upside the head because its no longer profitable, maybe 20 years ago...)

The internet is a vast resource of information and also LEGAL downloads. I'm so pissed off at their actions that I can bust a gut.
 
True - whoever thought up 3GB should be put in front of a white wall.

Reminds of something somebody said some time ago "640k would be enough".
