iBurst becomes IEEE standard

aIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Agreed

Though, to be fair, if it works, and is maintained properly with properly trained and qualified personnel, it should be an excellent alternative above wired.

But in reality, the accounts department and the technicians brings the system down where it's almost next to useless...

This article of course has nothing to do with actual SA company that uses the HC-SDMA standard other than the same technology is used....

Me wonders if the IP holder knows what a *** name the local company has made for their technology....

iBurst (the technology) is really awesome. I am glad to see it recognised as a standard.

iBust the BEE SA company, that is a different story...

That clears it up nicely, which is what I tried to convey in my posting :o

Maybe the IP holder needs to be pointed towards HelloPeter and MyADSL to see what the company did to the IP holder's name? :)

As stipulated above, there is little wrong with the technology as has been experienced by a number of users in this country and abroad.

The problem lies (as with most companies in this country) with the "owners" of the technology in the local sense. The complete lack of urgency in dealing with customer complaints, the inept staff on the helpdesk and the shambles that is the accounts department, coupled with the lack of accountability within the organisation is the biggest problem that the iBurst Technology has in this country.

What we need are a number of competing companies with access to the license to utilize iBurst. The company with the best all round pricing structure and service levels would win support from any and all clients, while companies like WBS would hit crash and burn in a competitive environment.

Well done to Kyocera.:)

Can you elaborate on this?

Kyocera developed and own the technology. So it only stands to reason that they should receive the kudos for achieving the IEEE standards for the technology especially when they are up against the more established and largerly more accepted protocols such as ADSL and HSDPA.

This achievement was in no way thanks to moronic management by the likes of WBS.

Okay, I understand now. Didn't know that. :p

Some light reading - get stuck in and feel your eyes glaze over...! :p

Here it says:

iBurst (or HC-SDMA, High Capacity Spatial Division Multiple Access) is a wireless broadband technology developed by ArrayComm. It optimizes the use of its bandwidth with the help of smart antennas. Kyocera is the leading manufacturer of iBurst devices.

Thought it was Kyocera that developed the technology?

My bad. They have always been at the front of the technology in terms of the modems and the like, so have always been under the impression that they developed it.

Anywho, kudo's to Arraycom (and Kyocera) then :D

Interesting choice.

I guess iBurst is a good technology, and is a successful product abroad. The only problem with iBurst in South Africa is that it's being managed by an incompetent bunch of people.

Quite sad really. :(
