iBurst blocking P2P now?

Even on the "unshaped" 9G accounts?

Haha this is funny though, I mean just plain stupid kind of funny. I'll check it out quick, but I know my one P2P that I use still works fine, it's always been uncapped so I guess they can't block it either. Their stupidity has it's benefits :D

Noob question alert :D

With all this p2p blocking, i can longer see any online local servers on counterstrike and HL2 DM etc. Im guessing its because of what iburst are now blocking? I mean thats just not right :( I mean I paid to play online...

No I doubt that... Battle.net still works fine and I can see CS servers like usual. I don't have any local ones though... but I'm not sure if I ever did, I don't play locally online.

ive always been able to seen local and now i cant see any of them anymore :'(

hmm...turns out if i join the IP directly while in CS of HL2 DM then it goes into the server even though it doesnt pick up the server in the server list :(

I spoke to Henry this morning and he confirmed that Iburst are blocking p2p. He defended this by saying that it was part of an international trend by ISPs to do so. He further said that they were entitled to do so as an unshaped account was never part of the offering in the first place.

I have stopped paying them and have recommended that they sue me.

****!!!!

That, my friend, you can say again. "International Trend" my ass.

ISP's in the US, UK or WHEREVER don't give a **** about shaping. All I can say to you, Henry, is that you better hope we don't ever find you somehow. iBurst are now the only ISP in SA to completely shape P2P to death.

I've always supported iBurst and never had any real complaints, but this made me change my mind about them. Next year, when my contract expires, iBurst will probably lose yet another customer due to the stupid moves their managers make.

heh
I've already stopped the debit order
They blocked me from my own hosted site... 'cuz I used to to get some stuff I needed..

The problem with doing that is your modem will be worthless to anyone who buys it since your account won't be paid up.
would make a awesome brick with cable attached to it... most likely what you call a MACE to FACE - wonder if it'll work great?

OK so I decided to try Ares one last time, and guess what? It connected, yet it's almost shaped to death. Downloads run at 2kB/s max, and it takes ages to search. I can't run it through Tor, but without a proxy it works. Anyone else that can connect to a P2P service?

I seem to connect to p2p. However it seems to work only after hours. During the day I get the "connection closed by peer message" and after hours I get speeds of about 80KB/s on good torrents and 15KB/s on poorley seeded torrents.
PS: Gmail has stopped working. When it does, it takes ages to load.

Do you use Tor or do you get those speeds without a proxy? What program are you using for your torrents?

As for Gmail, I've given up on it..... :(

I've been wondering if the slow Gmail speeds could be related to the proxy iBurst route the JHB users through? Is it possible?
