iBurst delays planned iDSL launch

Stupid Question: Will I need a telkom line & pay line rental to make use of this?

Stupid Question: Will I need a telkom line & pay line rental to make use of this?

The answer is YES. Any ADSL product will incur at least two costs from Telkom - analogue (voice) line rental and ADSL line rental, although you can now pay ADSL line rental directly to most ISPs (they are just reselling the ADSL line from Telkom), and get it cheaper than Telkom's retail rates.

These new prices are a big FAIL, just like WebAfrica's new prices.

I don't see how iBurst's ADSL service will appeal to anybody, except maybe some gamers. Bandwidth prices are still ridiculously high at R49 per GB. To get R29 per GB you have to buy 60GB!! That's R1740!!!!:sick: At that rate you'd rather spend you money on a 1mb/2mb/4mb uncapped account, depending on how much you want to spend.

Meanwhile the standard price for bandwidth has become R30 and below. ISPs who are selling at this rate and below, where you don't have to jump through hoops or spend thousands to get this cheap rate, include Afrihost (R29 per GB, topup at R14.50 per GB), GConnect (R14 - R35 per GB depending on package), MyISP (R20 per GB), SAINET (R29.50 per GB), Screamer (R23 per GB), Redwill (R24 per GB), Axxess (R28.50 per GB, but only available to resellers).

Also, iBurst accounts/billing department from hell will keep most informed people away...

Sorry iBurst, your ADSL is a fail. We will relegate you to the MWeb, Telkom & WebAfrica heap of ISPs....

Agreed. Anything more than R30 per GB is a waste of time IMO. I'm not a gamer so those additional services doesnt appeal to me at all.

Thanks, thought so.

New kid on the wholesale ADSL scene peers with major players; new low-cost ADSL services emerge

This article has the same snippet as the previous "ADSL price cuts: New player shakes things up" article...

Copy and paste jobbie...

And it took them 7 full days to realize they need to make a press statement that they're not going live on the 15th of February?

Seriously? Marketing Managers need to be shot I say. Why pay someone 20k + a month for a job they're not doing at all? Even I would have had a press statement ready when I saw that 15th won't be launch date!? And if we did launch, 15th would have seen a press release saying we're launching? Not wait 2 weeks and "announce" it?

Ugh...

Most likely because iBurst is one of the "big players" they peer with

Three weeks ago the company announced that all iBurst iDSL subscribers will have access to the standard iGame platform, and as an introductory launch offer will receive 1 Gigabyte of free gaming bandwidth per month for a period of three months.

*More lies, like with giving the giving the option to move back to old packages for those that choose to...
I am sorry but i dont trust a single word Iburst says anymore.
