Of course, on the downside, this is iBurst we are talking about, and I wouldn't go near them even if I was equipped with a pocket full of accountants and a radioactive bargepole.

iBurst out laughing at their 40MB offering. Then iBurst into tears after so many people fell for it.

What about the R2000 modem?

It's R89 or R69 pm with the modem (UTD/UTC) included, over 24 months. They try to make it cheap, but when you're selling 40mb you can't really have a R2000 modem.

Yes, but if you can't get ADSL because Telkom are hopeless, your choices range between Sucktech which absolutely sucks, Iburst (even with the R 2000 modem), and dial-up. For people who have no internet experience, and don't disconnect their call for the 4 hours it takes them to type out a message, Iburst is the only alternative.

Personally I love Iburst (been waiting 10 months for ADSL so far) - I get excellent speeds on My torrents way after I've hit my cap.....(of course I had to install an antenna that goes halfway to the moon to get a good Iburst experience, but that's another matter).............

is it true that they do not stop you at 40MB or even warn the customer or require them to prepurchase additional bandwidth?

i hear rumours of a number of folks who signed up for this and are now being hit with huge bills for overusage.....

Even when you compare it to Telkom it is out of wack...

"Their DSL 384 service with a 1 GB of monthly usage allowance now costs R 199-00"

People will start to like Telkom *more*, they'll be decreasing prices to kill competition.

AFAIK the 40Mb package is hardcapped after you've used up 40Mb.

Will keep eyes peeled and ears open for these rumours as well.

If they took a leaf out of Vodacom/MTN's book and start charging for out-of-bundle data then all is not well....
