iBurst Firmware Update(s)

Yes I second that. I have the same antenna, with no arrow on, but rather Velcro on the bottom side.
I received the antenna a few days before the firmware upgrade and I am not sure it is doing anything to boost the signal. The firmware upgrade has not only stabilized my signal but I have seem to be getting much better reception. I am in one of the "white" spots, on the outskirts of the coverage, so I am pretty chuffed.

Now if they can do something about the latency I can use VOIP!

Well I decided to reel in my UTD at the end of the long ethernet cable & plug the thing into my Windoze PC via USB to find out if after all the disconnects the firmware was in fact OTA updated - verdict STILL NOT :(.

Another annoying development this week is the signal strength from Bryanston-BS is fluctuating even more - I thought it had stabilised back to 4..5 leds but it's decided to continually hop between 0..5 leds. I don't see how a firmware update will sort that out, but I really would like to just download the update & do it now instead of waiting for the OTA thing to maybe never happen.

Just got it...

Code:
Software Version: 1106C022
            Date: 2005-02-22
After trying several times today to get hold of both Dylan & Shaun [both have voicemail is disabled], and tried PMz as well, to see if they had a software package I could use to manually update with [like the previous firmware update], I eventually decided @ 16:00 to try forcing the update by manually disconnecting & reconnecting (with USB cable) & each time restarting the iBurst systray app & going to the About tab.

Well persistence pays off - I got a message from W2KP saying that the iBurst modem had unsafely unplugged itself from the USB port, and that was when it had actually done the OTA Firmware update. I checked in the systray app & it was updated - just a few minutes ago.

I really hope this actually makes the VAST difference that WBS have been promising.

Ditto now. Suddenly TCP/IQ gives me VERY BAD speed, but ftp, etc, are still the same...

I don't see any updated files on the Iburst site yet. Those ones date back to October.

Since my modem is 30m away at the end of an ethernet cable, I guess I'm going to struggle to get the new firmware loaded. Think I'm going to have to borrow someone's laptop...

Question: Will the update have any impact on Ethernet connections? Or does it simply enhance Terminal software and USB connection?

There is no update file on the iBurst site yet, because the software was updated over the air. To see if your softtware is up to date click in the yellow iB icon on your bottom taskbar to open iBurst modem UTL. If it is not there go to start, all programmers, iBurst and click on iBurst Modem UTL, click on about and and look at SOFTWARE VERSION in the middle. for UTC the version number is 1103C023 and the DATE indicate when it was updated. I'm not sure what the Software Version number is for UTD's. My was updated over the air on 2005/02/22.

I didn't even notice during my connection that it was updated.

UTD: Software Version: 1106C022, Date: 2005-02-22

The date seems to be the release date of the firmware, I disconnected and reconnected a couple of times today to eventually force an update. You unfortunate;y need to use the USB interface to check the version...

Looks like i'm way behind !

Utility Version : 1.02
Date : 2004/09/28

Software Version : 1105C022
Date : 2004/11/27

Hardware Version : 1.0
Date : 2004/12/20

no not "way" behind, thats the last one that was out there, they still have 3 days (perhaps more) to update the bulk of users UT firmware so you still have time

Just downloaded firmware update for iBurst UTD, but it seems that I already have a later version. Currently: Utility Version 1.02 - 28/9/04, Software Version 1106C022 - 22/2/05 and Hardware Version 1.0 - 24/1/05. Is this the latest version or what?
