iBurst improves offerings with additional data

This is a quick reasponce to the industry / market place asking (demanding) more from iBurst.

I beleive it is a good start ... but that is all it should be ... a start.

We will wait and see ...

Whoopdedooo big **** Oh my greatness 200 ~ 500 megs extra...

What a joke...

1-2 GIGS extra would be more like it.

Seems that 200MBytes is all that they can spare, now that Ed Hall's departed and they don't have to pay him no more.... Ja, asking for 1-2 gigs extra will make a dent in the CEO's pocket lining, I think.... NOT.

Sure 500MB is very much a token improvement, far more from my point of view is the data carryover. Now that is a real step in the right direction and hopefully will set a precedent for other carriers.

The i-Go Lite users will be happy I suppose. Their data allocation gets doubled effectively, so it's 410 MB for R195 instead of 210 MB.
And ditto about carry-over.

You guys are never happy ... how often has one read ... "give us something" or "show us anything" etc ...

As long as this is a start ... it is going the right way!!! ;)

This is shocking. Its pathetic response by iBurst to their competitors, but good to see they are responding. I just hope that they are able to come up with a much better response in the next month, otherwise I will be go to MTN.

Its interesting to note that the larger the original package, the smaller the relative increase - the iGo Lite subscribers had their caps nearly doubled, but the caps on the G3 package increased only 17%. The response is meant not to satify the high end users but rather the low end users.

Well, on my MyWireless Classic, I get 10gb for R499, which comes in at about 5c a MB. Which seems rather cheaper. And that this is a softcap, which in effect has meant that the 10gb is never enforced, makes MyWireless Classic seem like the cheapest that we have yet seen. But it is no longer available to new customers. If this had been combined with their new speeds, it would be a really great buy. iBurst doesn't seem to bring much to the table other than coverage. But MTN seems to better them there as well

What are the setup costs associated with this and how long is the contract? And why, pray tell, is it no longer available to new customers??

Just to add to the article - for the sake of completeness - Cybersmart charge R21 per month to carry over unused data on the 3GB package and then nail you with R200 to drop this functionality. I'm concerned that the article may have the effect of glorifying them.

So whats the point...I still pay the same damn amount every month. 500mb saves me nothing. Give us a price decrease with 1gb extra.

Well I am chuffed that they are finally carrying over data. The small cap increase is also nice..

I am a low bandwidth user so it does help me more than others.

However why did they not do some quick calculations before saying they are the cheapest. That wasn't bright....

This will be a nice bonus until my ADSL is installed, unfortunately it is to little to late.

hj2k_x : Well, you need the modem, which used to be about R2000 iirc (The new prices regarding the modem are very nice), or you could pay R549 incl the modem on a 24 month contract. Other than that, there weren't any other fees. Not sure why they discontinued the Classic Bundles. People were probably abusing it.

Arggggggggggggg....
There I thought I'll be getting the G1 package at R300/m (cos I still have my modem). It seems I'll just continue with 3G and GPRS for for now.

What bugs me about this is they still haven't said anything about their modem prices?? And another point is that anyone willing to get any sort of contract at this stage has got to be a complete nutcase!! no-offense intended

And I agree with some comments made on this thread talking about wanting cheaper prices. DAM STRAIGHT!!! I want cheaper prices not value-added bulldust.

It almost feels like we are being mocked doesn't it, those who know better will agree 200m/500m/1G extra is almost meaningless. And these people have had a chance to "Start" for the past 5 years man! No-one wants to wait any longer and now that we see some movement it still seems a little disappointing! come on who doesnt agree??

a small, a very small step in the right direction! not good enough

IBURST are starting to look and sound like Telkom.....shame
