iBurst improves offerings with additional data

4Mbps

I disagree that 4Mbps is useless. It makes my usage of the Internet more pleasant. It suits me. iBurst simply annoyed me with non - delivery of 1Mbps. When Telkom is at its worst, 640 kbps, it is still better than iBurst that I tried to optimise at great cost!!!!

When your ISP (Iburst) can't beat them, common sense says, join 'em (Telkom).

Checked iBurst web site....

Only 24 month packages get the additioanl 500mb... month to month still listed as only 3gb...

What a joke, month to month I pay the same amount to them why is there no increase for me?

Come on iBurst explain?
Thanks for 2 years of being ripped off, here's your lollipop and be on your way now.
So first everyone says the 500MB extra on the bigger packages is a joke, now they find out it's only available for contract users and they bitch because they didn't get any on their month2month? WTF?

People are never happy.
First they make bold claims about being the cheapest and the first to provide carry over. Both of which are outright LIES not to mention their carry over doesn't even compare with REAL carry over which is already provided by WebAfrica. WTF is there to be happy about? Oh sign up for iBurst after them giving the impression that it's on month-to-month and find out afterwards that it's a scam but thank you nonetheless. They should be repremanded instead of thanked. All their month-to-month subscribers should cancel. Mtshali is right, they don't believe in fine print, they don't even have it in print!!!

I have a 9GB iburst account. I get an extra 500mb. Gosh Iburst, dont put yourself out.

You must admit thats pretty angry for them giving 500mb extra free to contract subscribers. What is that impression of month-to-month thing about? Because of their billing system?

They give the impression it's for everybody in order to sign up more "customers". That's false and misleading advertising. Damn right I am angry for that. It's nothing for any month-to-month subscriber to be happy about. Couple that with the LIES and it's just more of the same bullshit we have gotten used to over the years. If they want to increase usage for some then fine but don't overplay it for what it isn't to look like the broadband knights.

Shysters

Apologies forumites, for posting this sorry excuse for a news item again. The highlights emphasise the person figure-heading the poor excuse for a wireless service provider. Did he put the words in his own mouth, or did his spin doctors spin their wheels in the dung of the ill-informed and do it for him.

As a marketing/PR exercise, it is an example of what to do to completely piss off the month to month customers.

As of 1 March 07, iBurst’s products will become the most cost effective in the market with the launch of Data Bonus. Data Bonus applies to all 24-month contracts. Subscribers will receive an additional 200 megabytes of data free on iGo Lite and iGo contracts and an additional 500 megabytes of data free on all G1, G3, G6 and G9 contracts.

Existing subscribers on 12, 24 and 36 month contracts will also benefit from the additional data allocations, which translate into a 49% reduction in the per-megabyte price on iGo Lite, for example. iBurst now offers the cheapest in-bundle rate at 38 cents per megabyte on a 1 Gig package and 12c per meg on a 9 Gig package.

The good news continues for iBurst customers with the simultaneous launch of Data Carryover. iBurst customers will now be the first broadband subscribers able to carry over the unused portion of their monthly data allowances to the following month. “iBurst doesn’t believe in fine print and this is not a promotion of limited duration,” said Thami Mtshali, CEO of iBurst.

iBurst subscribers will appreciate being able to carry over their unused data as this will help them to balance their Internet usage from one month to the next. Subscribers will be able to carry over unused data up to a maximum of their monthly data allocation.

Therefore, iBurst’s G3 customers (who receive 3 gigabytes of data every month) will be allowed to accumulate any unused bandwidth up to a maximum of 3 gigabytes. This is then carried over to the next month giving an effective data allowance of 6 gigabytes in the new month.

Data Carry Over is available to all iBurst subscribers and is also applicable to unused top-up bandwidth which may have been purchased during a particular month.

“Should subscribers be unsure of which data package would suit them best, iBurst is happy to advise them and there is also a tool on the iBurst website (www.iburst.co.za) for this purpose.

“For potential iBurst customers living in Gauteng and Cape Town, we would be happy to advise them at our showroom located at 66 Park Lane in Sandton or at our regional office in Canal Walk, Cape Town,” said Mr Mtshali.

The person highlighted must think we are congenital idiots to fall for this crap.

Mr Mtshali, do us the courtesy of explaining what you and your company are doing to retain us loyal and perhaps misguided clients on month to month deals.

Seriously, I do not expect a response from you. You are so distant from your customer base, that you do not know, or perhaps even care, what they think.

Slick spin does not retain clients. Service delivery and equitable treatment does.

Do you know what equitable means?

Do you know what service delivery means?

Okay I sort of misunderstood your post, it was all written so close together :p

I thought you were just talking about the month-to-month accounts in general being a scam (questionable) and misleading...

LOL this is crazy...so in the end i have been with these idiots 2 years and i dont even get the lousy 500mb cause im not on a contract?!?

Seriously there is no such thing as customer service in SA just customers being served with a drill through the head.

I think its time to lodge an official complaint. They are not the cheapest wireless provider across the board... They want to claim that then they must do that, else retract that statement. Advertising standards association, here i come...

Actually I think the contract accounts are a scam in general. Lock people in so they can't move to a cheaper provider. That and the modems only being usable on their network. It's partly why they haven't reduced prices since their launch except on the 24-month 1GB and now this again only for contract. They might as well go the Sentech route and cancel the softcap in favour of a hardcap.

You can include me in that complaint, companies get away with too many LIES in this country. I think it's time for companies to be allowed to point out each others LIES.

That will be the last straw for me...if the 64k throttled speed goes so do I! It's the only reason I'm still with iBurst.

Ja but in SA suppliers do not want to or actively refuse to give them better products.
In SA, the customer/consumer is the enemy, remember?

And in Japan customer is GOD. This is a very direct philosophy but apparently its true, according to my marketing degree studies.
