iBurst reneges on online support promises

I see iBurst has now removed all comments with only the ability to contact Ed by email remaining. The statement “Let Ed know how we can improve our service related to these issues, by adding a comment below,” remains, but without the ability to post anything. Even Ed’s message has been removed… Poor show iBurst!

Hope they changed the name because you can't call that a blog! Shouldn't be able to remove past comments.

See they have a new comment on their blog :D

Less than an hour after removing the old links, they've got more spam posts (or outraged user maybe?!?)
You'd think seen as you don't need to be logged in to post, they'd put human verification in place?

I think that this demonstates that IBurst is unable to resolve their customer problems. This is a bad reflection on the company and based on the ever increasing problem threads that show up on MyAdsl it's getting worse.

If NeoTel comes to the market with decent rollout coverage then IBurst will come under severe pressure.

iBurst will have an increase in problems - as their user base increases. It stands to reason. However, this doesn't demonstrate that iBurst is unable to resolve their customer problems. It simple demonstrates that they are unable to create/maintain a decent, spammer-proof website.

NeoTel should start putting pressure on regardless. That's what we're all hoping for.

now they just deleted all previous comments...

lovely!

and WTF does my IE bomb out when I access that site???

I suspect I know why iBurst SA refuses to engage with its customers in MyBroadband's iBurst forum: iBurst SA does not have moderation powers to delete and censor what its customers post in MyBroadband's iBurst forum.

This does not change the fact that failing to respond to and resolve issues, whether via Ed's blog or the iBurst forum here, is very bad PR for iBurst SA.

The eternal non-participation by iBurst SA in the iBurst forum here, is an echo of Telkodemonopolies' snubbing of MyADSL and broadcasts the same propaganda message from the mouths of Steve White-Lies and Sizwe and now Papi Moletsane: 'a small minority of disgruntled users'...

@iBurst SA, these forums currently have 16672 registered members - I'm not sure if that figure includes or excludes permanently banned spammers, but the majority are certainly not spammers, we are consumers :).

Ed's blog is not doing iBurst SA any favours, my first visit there and scrolling down through the comments, I'm greeted with:
T******ers

T******ers
I suppose this spam or whatever it was, will eventually get deleted along with all the other valid comments, a nice environment for iBurst SA customers to get their fix of customer service & support...

An increase in problems is not related to an increase in users. A scalable and performant system (which IBurst is not) will handle that as part of its design.

According to the article, "the 130 comments from subscribers removed. Most of these comments remained unanswered"

If they resolved these issues then they would have answered them, even if it was a general answer.

And yes, we pray for Neotel

It might also have something to do with all the spam they got on the board lately. It seemed they couldn't get rid of it as it was there for days.

Maby when they figure it out the board will go back up? but it doesn't look like it.. :(

You can sort of see why they would want it gone, but they should have thought of it first.. Not quite the right move to just take it down.

This is not the first time Iburst has had to close down an anonymous user comment section on their website. Unless subscribers log in as they do for any of Ibursts other online services I can't see how something like this can work. Open, anonymous forums just don't work anywhere on the net. You only have to look at unmoderated usenet news groups to see how spam infested the internet has become.

Either Iburst must beef up the site with a secure forum, or they should take advantage of MyADSL's vigilantly moderated forums, just as MTN and Vodacom have.

If iBurst choose to go the Telkom route and refuse to engage with their customers on this board - they are making a HUGE mistake...

I posted an entry on the support blog (using my nick) today. Ed gave a prompt and helpful reply.

I have to complement Ed there. Maybe I am just a bit strange, but when I get prompt and helpful replies, that companies standing goes up dramatically in my books.

So here's to you Ed.

Isn't it strange that the moment MyADSL makes a broadband report public or awards an ISP with something (as during the conference), the service/speeds of the "in-favour" ISP goes arse up ? Same thing with $entech last year :)

Ed also replied to my gripe quickly and efficiently :)
