iBurst says it can still compete

Wahahahaha....

Someone tell me when to stop laughing at iburst...

iBurst continues to provide an average throughput on par or better than our competitors, regardless of theoretical maximum speeds advertised

iburst is now stable? Really? WOW!

I can't wait to get home.

Lets wait and see if iBurst survives when Daddy steps down as MD from Vodacom. And we always complain about nepotism in government . . .

Playing dota on local servers is only viable after 8 as before then the pings are just too high.

What really gets me is how a person's ping can vary widely within the space of 30min.

I'll join a game with a ping of 60 then by the time the game is up it can be anything from 59 to 650.

“We continuously review our costing structures so that we can pass on savings to customers as soon as possible. We cannot comment on any imminent reductions.”

This is bad - not even "imminent"! Thats bad! Imminent is on average 4 to 5 years - so to anyone thats with iBust, its gonna be a long haul before you see anything competitive

I played dota during the day, or at any time really, while I had iBurst. A few of my friends still do without problems. It all depends on your basestation and signal.

The war3 ping is pretty useless. It takes one static ping and shows that for about 20 minutes or until you join a game. It could be anything that causes your ping to spike for a second, not a true relection of your actual ping.

I understand that 100%. It's those times that I join when my ping is 60 then the game will lag about half way through, then when I exit I immediately check my ping and it's 650.

Someone recommended I use opendns, but I have no idea how. If someone could point me in the direction of a tut I'll be eternally grateful.

On par or better than their competitors ... if this is the case then I don't even want to know the other people because Ibursts throughput sucks donkey balls :p

Neotel’s CDMA-based NeoConnect Prime offerings provide uplink speeds of up to 2.4Mbps, and is very competitively priced when compared with similar broadband offerings in the market.
Error in the article.

iKrap... at the internet bill I get at the end of the month ;)

iBurst is a consistent 106-112KB/sec on dual connection http sites, eg RapidShare.
(where you run at least 2 connections at the same time.)
What is nice about iBurst is the softcap, otherwise iBurst can't compete against Neotel.

I know a number of people who have iBurst mostly because it was cheaper than ADSL for their usage patterns.

On top of that they did not have to deal with Telkom.

At the moment people are very cost conscious and will drop a current supplier without a second thought if they can satisfy their needs for less money.

Tough for iBurst - I know a few people that will move to Neotel when Neotel offers coverage.

I'll be staying with iBurst though for one reason.

Soft Cap.

I don't think I'll be ale to survive with the stress of managing my usage. For the R450 I pay I get 30-50gigs depending on if I have anything I actually want to download.
