iBurst Speed Test Results

^^ please clarify test conditions/equipment, id est UTD/UTU device-only/HGA, etc. (and thank you for doing same in the area)

One of these:

Antennae hung from the passenger handhold connected to a 3 year old Fujitsu laptop running Windows 8 64 bit. The car was a Mitsubishi ASX (if that makes a difference :-) )

Stopped my STEAM game patch download that was merrily churning along at 6kbs for the last 9+ hours......, restarted the PC, ran Speedtest, got this:

Hopefully Mel can help sort this crap out for good this week. If not, goodbye iBurst.

Tuesday 11th December 2012 will be D-day. If the iBurst Transmission Specialist cannot fix this, bye bye iBurst.

Just ran this test, in Craighall with a panel aimed at Randburg CBD ...that, back in the day, was setup under the direct guidance of iBurst themselves, not even a contractor. And it's not like the building has moved or anything. Posting the results as pics as it just conveys JUST how utterly abysmal this is so much better than plaintext.

I'm sure, whomever at iBurst, that even you lot can concede this has become an outright travesty. And please note that, also back in the day, this installation EXACTLY AS IT IS NOW used to get downloads of 120kB/s, and would certainly give me throughput vastly better than this. Just for kicks, please note on the top graphic that the CAPACITY speed is 2.16 "mbps" (actually Mbps, but you lot just can't get that right either). Which goes to show how very craptacular this situation really is. And which I would VERY MUCH like fixed.

iBurst being completely slow again. Was so good for weeks!

I'm sure the low ping should be indicative that I have a good signal?...

Anyone ever test using the guys above?

Okay, so this is what's happening. Towards the end of last year, I posted some speed tests here. r00igev@@r suggested I contact the user, iBurst. I held off on that as work was extremely busy and I barely had any free time during the week to spare for the cause. The hailstorms last year was both good and bad for many reasons ...
Well, I've now contacted the user iBurst, gave her the necessary details, and I was contacted by their technical department. One thing lead to another, and one of the tech guys will be coming out tomorrow so that he may try and find, as well as sort out, the problem. I'll be giving updates on how that goes. Might even make a separate post here on the iBurst forum at some point.

For now, here's a little comparison. This link leads to the speedtests I did last year. You'll find them towards the middle of the page.

This is a speed test I did today. As per usual, I tested in the ideal conditions.
1Mb Desktop Modem (with the latest drivers for the modem and for the dashboard), all connected to an Omni Antenna.
The MTU is correct, the QoS disabled and I've done the rest of those little adjustments to get the most out of the connection.

1) iBurst Speed Test
Download speed = 0.20Mbps
Upload speed = 0.11Mbps
Ping = 43ms

4) Speed test done with testmy.net

And ... nothing happening. Results are pretty much as they were last year.
Now, let's see what'll happen tomorrow, once the tech guy has been out here and (hopefully) fixes this problem.

Alright, here's the new speedtest.

At the end of the speedtest done with testmy.net, I got a nice little message.
"You might have a problem...
Your connection scored only 38% of the Wireless Business Solutions (Pty) Ltd, iBurst average (62% slower)."
...
iBurst, we have a problem.

Well, I suppose there is a slight improvement over the previous results, but it's still not acceptable.

You're probably wondering, what happened to the technician who was supposed to come by and fix this problem? Well, he was here and he tried to find out what's wrong. The first thing he did was check to see how much signal I was getting, and whether the iBurst flat panel antenna he brought with him would make a difference. It wasn't the signal. So he ran a few tests and then did some advanced tests. I asked him, "So the problem's not with the antenna or signal, it's something else?". He replied, "Yes, it's something else. I will send this advanced test to iBurst so that they can find the problem".
Now, I guess I'll have to wait for iBurst to contact me regarding all that ...
In the meantime, I'll continue to post speedtests.
