iBurst users - I would greatly appreciate it if you could do the following:

1. Uncapped Speed Test
Please run the test at www.bandwidthplace.com while you are UNcapped (preferably when you're actually connected at 1024kbps).

2. Capped speed test
Please run the test at www.bandwidthplace.com while you are CAPPED (ie, running at 64kbps).

The reason I ask you to do this is because I am considering signing up for iBurst. I've searched the forums and it's quite difficult to find recent speed tests on iBurst.

Thank you very much!

Also: if you were previously a MyWireless customer, please can you comment on whether iBurst is an improvement or not over Sentech's cr appy offering.

I cannot run a speed test now, but this is a screenshot I took of my connection monitor. It is not always this good, but on average I get 600Kbps - 800Kbps download speeds.

Thanks guys!

I guess it's time to switch then. Just ran a test on Sentech again, slower than dial up at 14kbps.

I was quite amazed to see the discrepancy in speed between the day and night over the week. I was doing around 160kpbs during the day and above 600kbps at night.

Will try the links this evening

Ja, remeber these are all daytime speeds, they will go up alot later on. but you are on Sentech so you know this too I suppose.

And omg! 14kb... you should be alot happier on Iburst.

btw guys, the Africa test was quite alot slower than the UK test for me, I think they must have very bad server hosted somewhere up in Africa which arent great for us.

Well usually Sentech's 128kbps package gives me around 55kbps. Just barely slower than a 56kbps modem's official speed.

It's not really the speed for me, I'm switching because Sentech hates its customers. It's the only logical conclusion considering how they treat us.

Our speeds do not go up at night, they are always slow. If you perform a speed test at 4am, they will show the same speeds as at 3pm on a weekday.

Also, if you download a file it goes at 8kb/s for the first megabyte, then it drops to something like 4kb/s.

Iburst has a bigger modem and different colours on its displays, another reason to move from sucktech.

In doing this I chose wireless 3G, others above have also chosen different options - which is correct? THis with wireless fixed:

252.5 kilobits per second
Communications 252.5 kilobits per second
Storage 30.8 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 33.2 seconds

Better in the evening

331.3 kilobits per second
Communications 331.3 kilobits per second
Storage 40.4 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 25.3 seconds
Subjective rating Not bad

I dont think that matters at all, Iburst speeds just flactuate a bit. But I think wireless:other is corect technically, as Iburst is apparently 4G, but that could be a lie, maby a adaptation of 4G, but its kind of it's own technology.

Anyway, your speeds arent great, try a different speed test, local too to see if your connection is okay.. And you will be in after hours now..

You guys are lucky to have such nice speeds. Sitting here at 17kbps tonight. Can't wait to switch, I just hope that with iBurst's increase in advertising they've got a simultaneous investment in additional bandwidth.

lol, these speeds arent very good... it seems to be a k4k speed test. But you'll be even happier then I guess..
