Hey guys, im wondering if the Bryanston Mall tower is at the Bryanston Shopping Centre (Opposite Bryanston High). If so then im RIGHT next to it. Also I have the USB Modem and I dont use any antenna and my signal is 99% and I play FPS online with no problem?

99% Signal strength on the UTD doesn't always mean that you have a strong, stable signal. The only way to find out your real signal strength is by downloading UTTracestar. However, it looks as if you have a great connection, since you have no problem playing FPS games. :) :) What is your result on the speed test?

Which speedtest? I also wanna know if the Bryanston Mall tower is the Bryanston Shopping Centre?

Last I checked the tower was on the top of the Bryanston water tower at the corner of Willy Nicol and Main... Don't think they've put another one at the Bryanston shops

Well if you can play FPS without a problem then it sounds okay :)

You could also just tell us the normal speed that a download comes in at.. you need java for that speed test btw, you can use the speed test at www.gamco.co.za if you don't have java.

I got 605kb but im downloading a file and getting 50kb (they limited my bandwidth)
I normally get 120kb+

Well the 120+kb part sounds great, nothing to worry about then.

You mean you ran the test while you were downloading, it seems about right then, pretty high actually.

Hmm, also I dont use any antenna or anything like that. I dont plug anything into that gold port on top of my USB modem. If I do it seems to slow down my speed and ping? Is this normal?

No, there isnt a Bryanston Mall, ther's just a Bryanston Shopping Centre.

Well if get such good signal then usually an antenna doesn't help much. Having the wire for the antenna just creates more signal loss, so I guess that is normal.

You can't just stick any piece of wire in that socket as an antenna is calculated on the frequency of the modem, sticking just any piece of wire in that socket would cause lose and you stand the risk of killing the modem.
