I am looking to setup a iBurst USB modem on IPCOP or Smoothwall?

Has anyone done this? Don't need the how to... if you could just point me to the correct site or the thread with the how to?

I have been searching and cannot seem to find anything.

I see you in Smoothwall Support? Does it work with Smoothwall? I must be honest, I have been an IPCOP boy for years now but won't mind making the change to Smoothwall if need be?

I ask nihilist thanks, see if he reply's on this 1st...

Libs: I read both of those links you posted and I'm not so much seeing the USB modem and the OP in the first link, dunmarie, is using the UTD, explicitly not what we (me too..) want confirmed.

And it'd be great for nihilist to reply here, people want to know! :p

I've used everything from IPCop to Smoothwall to Endian to pfSence and even Mikrotik! lol... But i've never been able to get anything out of USB  I've only ever come right using PPPoE.

At the moment I'm using the UTD with Endian, I like Endian, its really nice from a setup and GUI perspective. :D

AFAIK USB is a bit troublesome with Linux (especially Smoothwall). I prefer to use Ethernet devices instead of USB as Ethernet does not have the cable length restriction USB has.

Well yes but sometimes all one has is USB  (like when the UTD gets sold) and the UTU is necessary for the highly mobile user, it'd be lovely to be able to come back to the home base and jack the UTU into something and sit with the notebook on the couch.

...without having to pony up for the Dovado router (much as I would LOVE one!) for which I don't have the cash anyway (but I do have a plethora or boards 'n stuff lying around...)

So, not so much with Smoothie then? Any insight on whether it'd work with IPCop?
