Morning all

We experiencing problems with iMessage and Facetime on our devices and I saw an article that said certain users were experiencing problems, do any of you know what is happening with regards iMessage and Facetime?

Thank you

Hi there,

Ive also heard about it but im not experiencing it. Facetimed this morning with a friend and sent few imessages. hope i dont get the issue... what ever it might be

Been happening for quite a while now so sounds like you ok, just frustrating that something that should work is not.

yeah weird that some people have issues and others dont... you have US acc or RSA acc? not sure if might make a difference... i got US,only issue is when i send pictures takes its time... = could be 3g or wireless being congested. ill try do a imessage now and see if works

edit: jip it delivered and sent message and received a message back

There is a way of checking. Apple has a web page indicating if there are any issues with cloud services.

Well my itunes account is usa but it's not just me it is my wife's ipad too and I think also my daughters iphone in the US but then again she might not be getting ours because of the problem.

hmm got the apple status screen and everything is green meaning no issues at all.

iMessage has always worked for me. I'm on MTN, maybe it's your service provider?

I have the opposite problem... because i'm sharing my apple ID over mine and my wifes phones we get each others iMessages, my phone will show her messages as coming from me and vice versa... even my iMessage chats with friends get to her phone... which is fantastic :erm:

So, how do you hide your skelmpie?

The best option is for your wife to have her own Apple ID. She can setup her own iMessage as well as iCloud. You will still be able to use your Apple ID for the purchasing of apps, easily set in the Settings --> Store. So, she will receive her own messages.

Maybe it is the service provider but I have an Apple iPod touch and my wife has the ipad mini (not the cellular one) so none of us have any connection to our service providers so it's straight through wi fi. My daughter States side has the iphone so she would obviously be on her network provider but for us it's either an Apple issue or imessage issue.

Agree, I share appleID with my wife for app store, but use our own unique numbers/mail addresses for iMessage.

Check your "send/receive" settings. Go under Settings --> Message --> Send & Receive. Ensure that your email address(es) are added. The person on the otherside should do the same. If you want to contact the person, make sure that he/she is in your contacts (makes it easier).

Thanks will check the ipad tonight.

Since I have had this version ipod I have had no issue, that I can remember, with imessage and since winning the ipad last year oct/nov there was no issue with imessage untill a few months ago so I was thinking now maybe the settings are incorrect or something and need to be reset again so I will look later, thanks man.

what is a firmware re-install when it comes to an Apple product?

1. Open iTunes
2. Connect your apple device
3. Open the i(Device) window
4. Click on Backup (important step)
5. Click on Restore.
6. Hope you have a good internet connection, as the download can be up to 800MB
7. Don't disconnect your device when downloading, as it will 'lose' the download
8. Wait a while when iTunes install the Firmware (Update)
9. Let it restore from the backup (it will ask, you did backup?)

Thanks bud.

I thought firmware updates were for other devices but it seems it's just another name for "update"?

I seem to be having a problem with telkom over the last few months as the connection seems to be very bad and just this week I had a problem with updates on itunes.

iTunes doesn't handle slow connections well. You may be better off downloading the updated iOS online and then installing it via iTunes.
