ICASA ADSL Announcement?

Whatever happened to the announcement ICASA would have made on Monday, regarding the pricing of Telkoms ADSL line rental?
 
they forgot about it? maybe all the people here in this forum should phone the ICASA all at one time lets see what happens then...
 
MAN .... can you believe this ...

ICASA expects the Department of Communications to announce the promulgation date soon; but if this date is set for some time in the distant future, ICASA will forward its new ADSL regulations to the minister's office, adds Baloyi.

I told ya folks, telkom is keeping this info Under wraps.. As they cannot implement the new prices if its not released..

This is the explanation given by Edmund Baloyi, advisor to chairman Paris Mashile, for the delay in revealing the new ADSL regulations, even though the new laws (governing the ADSL pricing model Telkom may use) have been finalised

Mr Baloyi was formerly in charge of legal affairs at the DoC...

Baloyi talks rubbish.

ICASA is tying themselves up in knots. I would shout at my computer right now if I had had enough sleep last night.

Whatever happened to the ASSURANCES given by ICASA on Monday 3 July, and again on 5 July, when they said the regulations would be released on 10 July after Mohlala had had a word with Paris?

So what now, lets just change our story and blame it on the delay in the ECA? They knew about this delay as they gave their assurances on the 3rd and 5th. Nothing has changed since then, only their excuses.
 
haha. So a quick recap, Ivy has set the date to when she feels like it, and now icasa is playing the same card. This crap about missing deadlines and not setting them must end it sets a bad example to everyone and every dept(which seems to be following this lead of nice speaches+delays).

Well since Gov can delay, stall and basically do things when they feel like it we should use the same strategies with taxes, i mean they are our role models. :P Tax ad should be, 'This year i paid to watch Ivy make nice speaches, eat dounuts and attend Tea and cake meetings'.

They say if its not in the distant future. How distant is too much 1month, 3month, 6month, 1yr, 3,yrs? Imminent is 6months acc. to DoC

The reason things like this happen is because there are no repercussions for those involved. What happens to them if they don't do their job and spend all day sleeping at there desk? They collect the same salary at the end of the month. This applies equally well across the whole of our government.

I think there's a name for it, something like corporatism or corporate syndrome ... :D
 
yeah I notice that at companies, it annoys me alot cause when i am left to nothing even if its a vac training etc it eats at my soul.

Why can't they do their job?

ICASA chairman Paris Mashile reaffirmed his commitment to reducing the costs of telecommunications in SA as quickly as possible.

“I know over half a dozen large multinationals looking to set up operations in SA that have approached ICASA to find out how we can facilitate the process of encouraging investment by bringing down the cost of telecoms,” he says.

too much red tape?

no one person has enough decision (de-centralization) making power to have any meaningful effect. everyone has to pass the signoff to somebody higher until it sits on the very top. at this point the person at the very top has a billion things to worry about and signoff, all of which they have to make sure is correct, cos in a working environment most of us know how incorrect information can lead to unwise decisions.

if u want change in a millisecond we can vote for a dictator and scrap democracy. but this always doesnt end up the way we intended it to (ie. china/and maybe zim)

all we can do is hope that icasa is given more power to make decisions, therefore delegating work in their sector amongst their employees and then making decision based on findings, instead of waiting for approval's.

or maybe we can take to the streets and encourage our government to push IT a bit higher on their list of priorities, <sarcasm> since its more important than building homes for the poor or even eliminating aids </sarcasm>, i dont think ppl in the position to make decisions see how a better IT infastructure can influence every other sector.

in no way do i support the slow and ridiculous pace in which our guavamint implements change. but most people who want to implement change have their hands tied, and so we wait.
