Why don't members add stuff that they'd like altered with the ICASA complaint?

Then rpm or antowan can put it into a letter and send it.
Or have you already done that?

probs in order of importance
-cap
-cost
-port priotization

Sorry if this is somehwhat off-topic (no idea if it's been included in the complaint or not), but is there any chance of mentioning something about local bandwidth? I'm sure a number of people here (at least the gamers anyway) would have less of a problem with the 3GB cap if local traffic was completely excluded. SAIX provides gaming servers for us which I'm sure all SA gamers are grateful for, but then we have to moderate our usage because it counts toward the 3GB cap.

Seeing as local traffic seems unlimited anyway (it's the same speed regardless of whether you're capped or not), could Telkom find it in their hearts to at least exclude local traffic? I bet it would get rid of the capping-complaints for a while if they did that.

Additionally, is there any sort of formal petition or poll for the exclusion of local traffic from the cap? I wouldn't say it's a totally unreasonable request so Telkom might even consider it if it were presented to them formally and cordially.

Yea, I should have mentioned it. I'm also an avid online gamer and as you say WE have to RESTICT our usage. And what's the point if you get capped and it still works at ADSL speed.

I'm sure we can get rid of local bandwidth including in the cap

Hi guys

This was mentioned in the ICASA complaint and in communications with Telkom. It seems that the only thing keeping Telkom back is technical issues. I think this is one issue Telkom might be willing to address, but I don’t want to get anybody’s hopes up. Let us see what the new system they are introducing entails…

Regards,

They started ADSL off with just international counting towards the Cap, surely they can do it again..

I don't ever recall Telkom tracking international bandwidth only towards the cap. They USED to allow 3GB up and 3GB down (not 3GB combined), but I remember that being the only change they made to their cap calculation.

RPM sorry 1 more questions for you if u would. Would it be possible to view the complaint lodged with ICASA, would just be curious to see it.

Look at this thread.

I think the other big thing that ICASA need to address is the ADSL Rental charges. This and the 3 gig issue are the main concern of ADSL users. Port Shaping is the other as many people feel that if one pays for a 3 gig account you would want to spend it any way you wish. But I think you should the read the above thread as all these points have been raised already.

Agreed with BTTB, Line rental is by far the worst aspect of telkoms adsl. R680.... come on you are a service company Telkom not clowns, R680 is just a bad joke!!!
