ICASA Councillor quits

This is not good news. Mamodupi was in charge of the ADSL regulations...lets hope it moves ahead before she leaves.

The instability if also not good for ICASA!

I somehow suspect that the ADSL Regulations will be better off without her - considering the monumental stuffup she made of the ADSL Regs from a <added>comparatively</added> reasonable draft version to the disastrous mess that they currently still are.

IMO this is a positive development - not just bcos the glass next to me is half-full...:D

Maybe if Mugabe resigns as president of Zimbabwe, we can get him to run ICASA. Then he can just torture and kick the living **** out Telkom when they don't do what he says

i tend to see it as welcome - have not been at all impressed by her or her attitude

on the other hand it probably makes sense for her to jump ship now before the impending disaster called licence conversion starts to really fall to bits

Did someone wake up Paris to let him know she's leaving?

But didn't you post a while back that we would start to see great things happening on that front? :p :D at least there is a draft convers[at]ion[al] framework...

Poor Paris - he got slapped-awake with one of his own shoes, and then she left him- all shocked and ready to go back to sleep...

so far so good but the process is fraught with difficulty and i think we will see the big boys starting to throw their toys very very soon

i don't, to use a phrase, think Cllr Mohlala added a terrific amount of value (even starting from the low base set by ICASA........)

Ugh... all this does is add administrative delays. As if ICASA was speedy in the first place.

Understated perhaps? - you're waaay too diplomatic :).

AFAIK Ivy just has to pick the next name on the shortlist of 8 - (5 + 1) == 2, assuming memory serves me correctly, but someone will have to use one of Paris Mashile's shoes to slap Ivy awake, and the DoC's security guards have probably been instructed not to let Paris' stinky shoes into the building...

Goodbye Ms Mohlala. I hope oneday you write the real inside story on what happened with the ADSL Regulations process.

Ivy cannot pick another candidate from "the list". This is an entirely seperate appointment now. Last year government called for 5 appointments to be made. Five appointments were made from a shortlist of 8. One councillor subsequently refused the appointment (Barendse). The government still had to fulfill the fifth appointment. This was done from the remainder of the shortlist (note: the opposition pushed for a new nomination-to-appointment process to full the position).

Mohlala was appointed, worked for several months of her contract, and has now resigned. The government needs to call for public nominations to find someone to replace Mohlala.

Serves her right. she should not have been reappointed in the 1st place.

She never added much except form all kinds of useless committees within ICASA!!
