Hi Roo!

You are correct that 512 is not all that fast, but I see 256 Kbps being used as a lower broadband limit by more than one organisation (OECD latest one)...

Yes, but my problem is that this is a new tech. If all it is offering is 512Kbps then why bother implementing it, it'll be prehistoric within a year or two. I really don't see the point in offering a solution that isn't even 1Mbps+, since HSDPA is already faster.

What is the max speed for WiMax anyway?

Telkom and MWeb should just give up now and bow down to the broadband kings.

:D This is just about the lowest monthly cap I have seen anywhere. I pity the uninformed consumer who, with great excitement, buys this product and then takes it for a spin
 
well it is mweb.. not sure how much of a good thing it is when the company is already reselling services at a higher cost end of market, so i don't expect their wimax to be the cheaper side of things.

I know people who don't know about things like this! They ask things like: "How many TV shows can I download with 1GB?". Or they think that cap refers to the speed.

It makes me angry when I read articles where the journalists don't address these issues. I always read great articles here on myADSL, but that's it! People are not informed about these things.

Don't even start with me about radio! The DJ will be talking to some techno editor from a magazine, and the guy always sounds like he's talking to the rich! He will never tackle the real telecom problems, and doesn't know sh|t about anything. Then the DJ will say something stupid like: "Oh, one megabit per second. Wow that's fast!"

I sometime wonder if myADSL's image is one of "disgruntled high-end users" bitching about their "super fast Internet"! - I hope I'm horribly wrong.
