ICASA trying to avoid public embarrassment: newspaper report

Until a decision to change rules has been confirmed in writing one must assume the old decisions/rules are still effective and applicable. One cannot assume the rules have changed ... one must be notified in writing ... or there must be minutes that clearly states the date of implementation of the new set of rules. ICASA dragged their feet is one thing ... and definitely not fair ... but one cannot stop paying before a ruling has been confirmed.

Just another ICASA botch-up ... but Vodacom should by now know how ICASA do things. Rather stay on the safe side and then claim your money back, than stop paying. Isn't that what Vodacom's legal/defaults dept would tell me?

ICASA don't be embarrassed you just doing what every other part of the cANCer government does - screw up!
 
There's no way that ICASA has the financial muscle to take on Vodacom in court. Vodacom has an almost unlimited pot of money to fight legal battles, I'm willing to bet that ICASA is about to get hit by multiple court cases from various different telecoms providers, most notably WBS/Iburst, which is going to hit their budget hard over the coming years. ICASA is most likely going to look to settle out of court to avoid the humiliation of going bankrupt.

I don't remember this but I would expect someone at ICASA to know what licence fees to charge, perhaps links to old news articles might refresh ICASA's memory?
 
Embarrassment seems to come easily to ICASA. Be good to get a news report where they don't screw something up.
 
Sounds similar to the cell c thing? How is it that Icasa only notice all these licensing issues now? It is like they did not do any work for years and only now appointed an accountant? Surely they should be held liable for negligence, if I am invoiced wrong for years, is it fair to wake up and try claim all this money?

Maybe Dinosaurus minister of corruption Pule blew ICASA's budget on fancy Italian shoes (ICASA gets money from the DoC) and ICASA has been forced to do some creative accounting.
 
We keep being fed bull5h1t that Telkom is a private company and there is no ANC interference yada-yada-yada...

But they are not. They have the silver spoon stuck so deep down their throat you couldn't find it with an MRI scanner.

Damn right this is super embarrassing for ICASA! The whole thing shows that they have been lying to us about being impartial all along!
