Icasa's ever changing stance on LLU

And the worst thing is that this market review bull**** doesn't help anybody but is what one particularly large company with limited investment in the industry has been pushing for in telecoms but not pay TV

Hopefully Vodatell will have the gumption to persist with the CCC on a facilities leasing approach because the last finding was that Telkom breached the regulations by refusing facilities access but because there was regulations being drafted at the time.


In order to fix the price, ICASA have to follow the market review process. These guys want to fix the price (and remember this is fix the price for market participants not consumers before anybody gets mistaken) and this is exactly what ICASA is effectively considering doing. Take a specific look at paragraph 2.10 (pg 2.10) and 2.18


Of course the additional reality is that as long as the authority is drowning in various things and remains useless a whole bunch of regulatory inefficiencies can be played by the firms who have positioned themselves to benefit from regulatory capture.

If somebody with deep pockets actually wants to free the internet now would be the time to take ICASA to court to compel them to enforce the facilities leasing regulations.

Can you draft a report on the main role-players at FUBAR* and how much they earn for doing what they are not doing? One way or another we are paying them and it's time that we remind them that they also have a responsibility to us end-users/consumers/taxpayers.

They are public figures so their salaries should be available publicly.

Also - and to be fair to those concerned what their respective contribution to the ICT landscape has been before and during there term at ICASA


@McD surely as a tech regulator though it should be FooBar, sadly ICASA aren't dispensing many PE[a]RL of wisdom
 
So LLU drags on for over 7 years but e-toll gets pushed through overnight without any public participation. AMAZING how effective guavamint can be when there's something in it for them or their corporations. If they really wanted to do something for this country the president and communications minister would push this through in parliament without the involvement of the DoC or Icasa.
