ICC Champions Trophy

They're really gonna miss Akhtar in their bowling attack. I don't think we are gonna lose against Pakistan. Not gonna be a high scoring match though.
 
well I'm hoping in one of the coming games the top order get it right and the middle to lower order are left to chance their arm ;) that will be entertaining
 
paki have a decent batting line up and our batting is relatively poor lately. 50/50 game I would say but I hope we win.
 
I would back sa to win i think.. Pakis batting has never been that strong (too lose) and dont forget their missing ahktar, and even more importantly mohamed asif. In my opinion hes the best young bowler the world has seen for a long time now. Look what he did to india, england, and sri lanka...And on flat pitches too..
Now this drug controversy has basically ruined his extremely promising career.... I hope woolmer gets pissed off in pakistan and comes to SA..:D i mean pakistan are the most corrupt and politically based team and nation int the world.... makes you think how good they would be without all this politics..But woolmer doesnt like smith either, so i doubt that would happen

Do we blame him :mad: Smith single-handedly got rid of our biggest match winner in the guise of Klusener. For that reason I'll never like him as long as he's captain. IMO Kallis/Pollock are much better suited to the captaincy - they don't blow off their mouth before the game even starts.

Regarding todays game, I'd like the Windies to win. Would be nice to see them and India go through.

Well he made a mistake so what? You also make mistakes!!!!
How would you feel if somebody keep throwing your mistakes back in your face? Think about it. Smith also have feelings. Just by the way we have a better match winner in Justin Kemp! Lance has lost his touch.

Yeah but I'm not captain of the national team :p And if it was a mistake, he's done nothing to rectify it yet. He also has a tendency to mouth off before the start of a game, which leaves everybody hiding in shame if we lose.

Kemp is good on his day, but Lance had the ability to bring us back from the dead. 60 to win, 30 balls and 2 wickets left, he's done in time and time again. Kemp hasn't contributed much in terms of being a match winner in the champions trophy so far.
 
I'm pretty sure I remember Kemp taking us to victory a number of times in the past. IMO he is filling the Klusener role just as well.
 
I don't care what Kemp has done (which hasnt been all that much by the way), its not even 1% of what Klusener has achieved...Klusener may not be what he was in 1999, and maybe never will be... but i dont think we can even start to compare the performance of the 2.. and if u ask me kluseners career was cut way too short because of a big ego belonging to a small boy

2 wickets in the first over :( they dont even need akhtar and asif...)

Either way, theres space in the team for Klusener, just take out Smith and Gibbs, both worthless in the team..

So they've won a few matches for us when they've scored, they've lost alot more matches for us when they've gone for single digits :/
 
Great 60/5 after 16 overs. Yeah Smith really has control over this team :/

Yesterday he was going on about the pitch being bouncy and similar to the one's back home which will give us an advantage. Once again he's managed to blow his mouth before the game even starts.
 
lol !!. smith does talk a bit much before the games, but ppl give them a chance. I think we can win definitely win this game if we get to 200 or 220...
Under lights the ball win do even more than it is now and we have the bowlers required. And dont forget how lose the Pakistanis are. We have makaya, nel, polly and even langaveldt.... it aint over yet.. give them a chance.. jst as long as the batsmen can get us to 200 itll be okay i think

There's no denying that we can defend 200/220. I have no beef with the rest of the team, just with Smith. Let's hope that Kemp, Boucher and Polly get us to 200+.
 
lol.. I don't like smith either... in fact i hate him with a passion. If every1 can remember, they made him captain after the 2003 world cup when he didnt even make it into the squad in the first place.. at 22, a person that cant even make the team, gets made captain.. I wasn't all that pleased about that..
And its cos of him that klusener disappeared after the 2003 world cup, when if ppl can remember he didnt do all that bad.

But i have to admit hes done well so far.. hes improved his batting as well..
And hes got one of the hottest chicks in sa... even all over the world

I don't think there are many South Africans that are pro Smith
 
we need better selectors too, why does gibbs keep getting picked when he over and over fails to perform?

smith too, if he wasnt captain he shouldve been dropped ages ago :/
 
Nah gibbs is okay.. he going thru a bit of a lean patch.. only recently he won us the greatest match ever against the Aussies.. Smith isn't a bad batsmen nowadays either.
I think its just his attitude and arrogance that really pisses of many ppl. I really liked Hansie, even if he did throw away a couple of matches :D :D...he never talked big like smith, he was generally likable and made us win like we will never win again.. Imagine he didnt match fix, we woulda been the best team in the world right now, as we were back then.. :(

go boys!.. don't wanna jinx it but maybe if kemp and boucher can carry on and polly comes in with some meaty blows at the end, we'll get 220 to 240 :)
