So? Amla couldnt even get a run a ball, Behardien should have done better i agree but thats just typical from him.

Yeah, let's blame one of the best batsmen in the world for not being as good as he could have. Instead of the tried and trusted failure and poor selection...

Yes lets do that, since im only analysing Amla in this game and not over the course of his career, i can confidently state he wasnt good enough in this game. Also blaming Amla doesnt mean i cant blame Behardein, im blaming both.

Amla rotated the strike mate. He at least stayed in there and fed the strike to the guys who did score boundaries. I wouldn't underestimate the value of strike rotation.

Needed a few more of these if we were going to make it across the line. So epically disappointing. :crying:

7 wides
we lost by 5 runs
#justsaying

That is a problem :(

I felt that the batsmen really did try and we were a bit unlucky (albie caught on the boundry for instance...).

Also I rate Sri Lanka as one of the favorite if not THE favorite to take the T20 crown.

Im not trying to down play the role Amla plays in the team, its a necessary role i agree, but i feel at the moment hes out of sorts. He should be aiming for a run a ball at least.

Agreed. Rotating the strike was something we did quite well in this game (to a point). Amla did his job. Behardien did not.

Besides, there is no point in looking for people to blame. It is a team performance. And the team did not do enough. All should be looking within to up their performance for the next game. They have the quality players (okay mostly) and the ability to be the best. It is just time to start doing what they are capable of.

Amla is a great player but he hasn't adapted to T20.I would open with Faf. He opened for Chennai when Mike Hussey wasn't available.

I would also move AB to number 3 and one of the finishers to 4,preferably Miller.

Proteas should also stop playing Convent Cricket

Anyway time to move on. I reckon England will make 140-ish, NZ to chase it down in 17 overs...

I would keep the opening partnership as is, Amla can feed the strike to the other guys and keep the momentum going. Things started going downhill as soon as he got out. AB at 3, and depending on the match situation, Miller, Faf and Duminy can be rotated between 4, 5 and 6...

Amla, de Kock, duminy and AB did ok, I'm happy with their batting.

Miller, Morkel and behardien didn't play their role in the team.
Miller has the same strike rate as Amla. That's not millers role.
Morkel coupled with his poor bowling and glory batting. Id rather have Parnell.
Behardien, should have come in ahead of albie.

Would rather have Parnell in for Lopsy. We can't afford so many passengers with the bat in T20s. Behardien should not be in the team at all, let alone be coming in ahead of anyone else...

+1
Amla and de Kock is our best pairing. I wouldn't change it. We've seen how effective they are together. It's always the lower batsmen that fail.

I definitely wouldn't drop Amla, Faf in for Behardein when hes fit.

Unfortunately i dont think the selectors will drop Lopsy but otherwise i agree, whats happend to Ryan Mclaren?

It's all about the beard. They couldn't steal Amla so they tried to clone him. Theirs came out left handed though. Not the same...

Stats show that Amla has adapted just fine. Faf was injured so he couldn't have played this game. Leave the mighty # alone.

Great call.

Still not the winning formula.

Anyway, England's kit is the worst I've seen! They normally have the best kit.

I disagree with this line of thinking. This is the reason we haven't won a world cup or even a fecking knock-out game yet.

We are too conservative and try to play the percentages too much. We need to be unpredictable and our batsmen needs to play with freedom. Amla is at his best when he tries to go after the bowling NOT looking for singles.
