ICC World Twenty20 2012

When Albie Morkel is not in the team everyone keep telling me how good a player he is?

Can anyone refresh my memorie to the last time this plonker won us a game?

Aagh, Maybe we must have Africa Cricket Cup competition , atleast Proteas will win.

Not so sure about that. Remember, it will be a tournament and we have no real experience in winning one of these. And we'll be up against power houses like Zimbabwe and Kenya. Kenya will have a FIELD day with Albie so the best we can hope for here is 2nd place.

How many times do we have to say it; all-rounders that aren't all-rounders will lose us games every time. Yes, that's Albie Morkel. He has proved to be a failed experimental over and over. So why do we persist??

I don't understand how AB saw how the Pakistani spinners demolished us and failed to connect the dots. Brainfart of note.

Spinners were bowling well. Very poor decision to bring the pace back that early. To make matters worse, almost all of Gul's runs were from short balls. All of his boundries were. I agree we deserved to lose. Poor cricket all around. Spinners - Botha + Duminy + Peterson = 30 runs off 8 overs and 4 wickets. Pace - Morkel + Morkel + Kallis = 76 off less than 8 overs and 1 wicket.

Nicely summed up. We just have to read the situations a bit better and NOT fall back to the old way of thinking that you must bowl pace in the last 2 overs

Yes, you cant blame anyone else than AB for this, and he should man up and take this loss as his mistake, how can you let pace bowlers bowl, when the spinners have 6 left, with those figures?

I don't blame Albie, he shouldn't have been bowling then. All rounders are good for a couple of overs. Look at Duminy and Kallis. They could have, and should have, bowled 2 more overs of spin before the pace came back. Botha can even bowl at the death if necessary. Pool captaincy and AB saying there was a couple of captaincy goofs doesn't fix it. He should have asked for advice or defer the captaincy to Botha. This is not kids cricket, it's a world cup (even if it is the world cup of bubblegum cricket). It's not the place you should be learning. You do that before you go into the big tournaments.

Wow cannot believe they persist with albie morkel, they never send him in at the right time and they let him bowl.

It's easy to look back and see what AB should have done after the match is over. However, before those two big overs that lost us the match, Kallis had bowled 1 over for 1 run and 1 wicket and Albie had bowled 1 over for 6 runs.

He should have let Botha bowl his 2 more overs though.

Here is what i think needs to happen for the next game

* Levi needs to go, His scores goes like this:1,8,0,1,50*[Zim], 4, 8 I think he's proving a to be a flash in the pan, a 100 on a small ground, and a 50 in a stress free situation against Zimbabwe is not good enough. If you want to play Albie, Let Albie open the batting with Amla, he can't do worse than Levi

* Faf needs to come in [he's a decent bat, and he can bowl 2-3 ovrs of leggies, more than likely to get turn]

* AB should read the situation, if spin is killing the opposition, bowl as much spin as you can.

I tend to disagree with most of the last comments here. The game was already lost when our first three wickets went for nothing. Everyone is complaining about Albie, but what the hell has Levi done apart from one decent knock.

Whatever your thoughts, it was a really exciting game...

This is what we need to do next game.

1.Hashim Amla
2.Faf
3.kallis
4.AB
5.JP Duminy
6.Farhaan Behardien
7.Richard Levi
8.Robin Pieterson
9.Johan Botha
10.Dale Steyn
11.Morne morkel

Disagree - Why would you take off your spinners when they've gone for 30 runs off 8 overs and 4 wickets ? WHY WHY WHY WHY. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND PURE WHY !?

Another thing that irks me is how low AB bats. They keep shifting him down the order to save him for the last few overs, why?

You wan't your best player to face as many deliveries as possible.

Not so much, if you look at our batting, we scored a lot of runs when the pace came back on. There is no way that on a spinning surface you pick a spinner and then bowl half of his compliment at a cost of only 10 runs. If you even consider that Kallis's 1/1 (he had an extra 4 leg byes BTW), after the first over went for a few, common sense would have said, take a step back and reconsider bowling another medium pacer.

After cooling down and venting: AB made a mistake. Spinners should have had a bigger role (but I'm not a cricket pro and it is easy from the sideline).

Let's just hope this was a wake up call and they get their act together. No use being good against the ****ty teams only. Regardless,

THOSE AUSSIE SHEEP ARE SO GOING DOWN!!!!!

You can't say that. The wicket was tough to bat on because it was slow. Only some of our dumb fast bowlers insisted on bowling short on it. I agree with Levi though, waste of a spot.

My side would be:

1.Hashim Amla
2.kallis
3.JP Duminy / AB (depending on the situation)
4.AB / JP Duminy (depending on the situation)
5.Faf
6.Farhaan Behardien
7.Albie Morkel
8.Robin Pieterson
9.Johan Botha
10.Dale Steyn
11.Morne Morkel
