ICC World Twenty20 2012

Get rid of 2 all rounders for two specialists.
Our team is like the NZ team full of all rounders that lose in tight games.

After watching the highlights, I would rather we have a tail ender hit the winning runs with no expectations than to expect an all rounder to make the runs and fail.
 
I can finally comment on this while my internet works. What ridiculous captaincy that was, yes morkel was useless but he shouldn't have been bowling in the first place. First 2 overs of pace..20 runs..spinners come on get 5 wickets and get the rate up to 10 an over...brings back pace, get a hiding...SURELY THIS IS WHEN YOU BRING YOUR SPINNERS BACK, they had 6 overs left and he persisted with morkel, unbelievable, just unbelievable. Worst captaincy ever, was either paid to throw that or he has no brain. If he had bowled out Duminy,Peterson and Botha i have no doubt we would have had them all out with a few overs left. But no he decides to bowl pace on a good wicket and they get hammered by a tailender.

No.
The Proteas are only called chokers when they lose when it matters.they'll breeze through the initail stages,notching up big totals but when they face lowly teams the Pakistan and NZ they fall apart.
What's even more distressing is that all these so called "choke" games were low scoring affairs.
Had SA been forced to chase down massive totals that tag would not apply.

The Pakis are infamous for collapsing so when they do lose dismally they're just being themselves, but they rise to the occasion during latter stages of a major tournament instead of crumbling like our hapless Saffers.
 
Pakistan has shown that you can strangle a team with good spin.When all you have left is the tail defending a small total with the run rate creeping up,bring on spin.
The lower order hates spin so that's when you use them.

Very sad but if we being honest with ourselves then we will concede that the title is apt, in the context of world cup cricket in any event.
 
It's lazy commentary to call it a choke. It was bad captaincy, which AB admitted to.

Anyway, I was looking at Kieswetter's stats as I'm not sure why England pick him. His T20I average is 22, and S/R 114.47. Now, I'm not sure what is actually a good average in this format so looked up some others:

Pietersen: Ave 37.93, S/R 141.51
Watson: Ave 30.86, S/R 151.69
Kohli: Ave 34.81, S/R 131.61
Gayle: Ave 37.78, S/R 146.29

I've forgotten what my point was, so I'll end here.
 
Botha should be captaining the side. Ab has his wicketkeeping! His batting! And now the captaincy! Its too much. Bring in a specialist keeper who can bat or strip him of the captaincy. At the moment he looks overwhelmed.

Bad captaincy, yes. But that is only the second half of the story. Really expected more from the batsmen.
 
I would have preferred quicker, greener pitches for T20 games. Where are the big sixes and high scores ?????

You probably missed Shane Watsons innings yesterday. The same pitch that SA batted on a few hours earlier.

If it the pitch is abit slow it will suit our team.

I will drop Levi and include Faf.


I still don't get why SA are so reluctant to play Albie and/or AB as openers...

It is often the best batters in this format need to bat at the top ... Not being wasted with just the last few overs to bat in a game...

Moneys on Aus and Pak to win.

Aussies batsmen are way to strong for our bowling line up. Bowling changes are crucial today, AB needs to step up. Need to bounce back after the loss.

India have a lot to prove today. Pakistan on a high after the last win. If Pakistan wins the toss its bye bye India.
 
Everyone says the pitch was to blame for SA crawling to 133.
What were the other scores on this pitch,so at least they can be vindicated on this fact?

There's no doubt they treated it as such.AB looked like he was sh/tting spiced up cricket balls during the press conference.
That prolly explains he's woefull captaincy, as not enough oxygen was being pumped to the brain.
This happens when you choke.ask any medical expert.

3pm Time for the toss...heads call AB de Villiers but it lands at head. Australia have won the toss and have decided to bowl first. Xavier Doherty comes in for Dan Christian to add an extra spin option for them. For South Africa, AB reckons he would have batted first anyway and brings in Wayne Parnell for Albie Morkel.
