Hi chaps,

So it's almost a month with this awesome phone...hmmm mini laptop :). Keis doesn't recognize my device :( and the phone update doesn't reveal any updates.

Please help with the ICS update and where I can obtain the Discovery Health app (had it on the iPhone)

Thank you in advance :)

Galaxy Note does not have an official update for any SA networks, as far as information goes it will still be a few weeks.

Only way at present to get it on is using Odin and an official rom from sammobile.com

If you want to keep it official (like me) then update to the official German ROM (on the same version number you currently have) and then you can get OTA updates (they released a new one last week for 4.0.4 so they move quite quickly). As Cranialblaze points out sammobile is the place to start (you will also want to visit xdadevelopers for more information). Alternatively wait another month or two, ICS will be released for SA but it's anyone's guess when.

Discovery haven't created an app for Android, e-mail them and demand that they make one now!

Actually, it's a little-known fact that Discovery has released an Android app; they just haven't published it on the Play Store yet. I have no idea why. Fortunately I happen to know someone who works at Discovery, and can therefore offer you a copy of the apk:

Cryptic1: You'll need to enable sideloading in order to install this. Once Discovery uploads it to the Play Store, you should start receiving updates to the app from Google Play.

So you say the German one is goo, I was a tad apprehensive about that one, language issues and what not. I have the ICS 4.0.3 UK/Ireland. Could I just grab the German 4.0.4 and odin from there?

I'm not really an expert on flashing, I suggest starting at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1347
Bear in mind you don't need to root your phone, just flash an official ROM. Actually just look at www.sammobile.com for easier instructions (you'll need to register to get in). Also keep in mind you'll probably have to delete all data on your phone in this process (except for the data you keep synced).

I'm not 100% sure, I'm guess you could go from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 - no language issues (starts up in German but you're presented with language screen to change to English [obviously other SA languages aren't included]). The OTA updates are the best part because the German ROM is the first to get them, you wake up one morning and there it is waiting to be downloaded.

Here is the guide I followed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20963730, for me nothing was lost as its technically an official upgrade, only thing is the settings get reset to stock. I have done it twice already and considering a 3rd if I do the German ROM.

If you take a custom rom however like CM9 then you will loose all data. Odin is like the unofficial way of officially updating.

CSC codes: XFA and XFV are the only ones available now... the others are not updated yet... I believe that's the SA Open and SA Vodacom versions...

Woah, did read that correctly? Is Vodacom finally, after two months or whatevers it's been, pushing out the ICS OTA update for the Note?

Since yesterday already.... They are the first networks providers to push out the update... Surprising to say the least....:D
