ICS out today

Its only the code for prime, the rest will follow.

Hi! We just released a bit of code we thought this group might be interested in.
Over at our Android Open-Source Project git servers, the source code
for Android version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is now available.
Here's how to get it:Follow the instructions at
http://source.android.com/source/downloading.html Check out the
'ics-release' branch:repo init -u
https://android.googlesource.com/platform/manifest -b android-4.0.1_r1
That's it! However since this is a large push, please be aware that it
will take some time to complete. If you sync before it's done, you'll
get an incomplete copy that you won't be able to use, so please wait
for us to give the all-clear before you sync.
This is actually the source code for version 4.0.1 of Android, which
is the specific version that will ship on the Galaxy Nexus, the first
Android 4.0 device. In the source tree, you will find a device build
target named "full_maguro" that you can use to build a system image
for Galaxy Nexus. Build configurations for other devices will come
later.
Unfortunately we still don't have our Gerrit code review servers back
online. That remains our top priority though, and we hope to have them
back soon.
This release includes the full history of the Android source code
tree, which naturally includes all the source code for the Honeycomb
releases. However, since Honeycomb was a little incomplete, we want
everyone to focus on Ice Cream Sandwich. So, we haven't created any
tags that correspond to the Honeycomb releases (even though the
changes are present in the history.)

Excited for the Android fans. But I actually haven't worked that much with Android so I think I would not see the difference.

Now it's only a matter of time until MIUI cooks up something good :D

Indeed. I still suspect they'll be faster than Samsung :-/

I must say I am hugely impressed with Gingerbread on my S2 and can live with that for a long time still. It is on my tablet that I cannot wait for ICS as the version of Honeycomb on the SGT 10.1 is bug invested with no way to get rid of it.

Is there no 3.2.1 rom in XDA somewhere?

I have a feeling ICS ROM's is going to come out a hell of a lot quicker than the 2 months mentioned by CM team.

1st home compiled run spotted in the wild:

I don't want to load Roms on my tablet yet. Still not happy with a few things and still trying to get MTN to help sort things out.

Trust the chinese to have to steal from CM instead of writing their own stuff.

Anyway....

Apparently we can expect the first nightly of CM9 (based on ICS) within a few days. The 2 months or so is for the stable version.

Well seeing that CM and Android is open source, means that its not stealing. It is in fact working exactly as it should.

In Short why waste resources on something someone else have already done, rather spend that resources and man power and add to it.

As soon as CM nightly with ICS comes out it's going on my phone :D

sadly, have to wait for HTC to add their 10 sense to it :P..

see what I did there :P

Yes, a developer called Epsylon3 on XDA has already got ICS booting on the Defy...hehehe

The Samsung Galaxy is too old for ICS says Google...I'll shove my Defy in their face once its available on Cyanogen mod

I sell off my devices as I upgrade to the next one, except my good old HD2. This is one device I will hold onto until it falls apart.
And true to the HD2's history, ICS had been ported for it :) Time to play...

Yeah HD2's are truly a one of a kind type of phone as its the only one I know that can run Windows Mobile 6.5, Windows Phone 7 and Android from MIUI to now ICS.
