IDE interfaces face imminent extinction

You guys said stiffies are extinct ... I received a driver on a stiffy ... and a friends text book came with a stiffy :\

When they say IDE will be phased out they mean it will no longer (or not much longer) be implemented onto motherboards (like AGP being phased out). So that means DVD/CD-ROMS, HDD, FDD,,,, well you get the picture.

If you still have IDE devices you don't have to worry though, you can pick up a (cheap) RAID controller card that can handle your old IDE devices.

And a stiffy is the easiest way to sort out a corrupt bios
I would never use a stiffy to flash, don't do it. Use either USB or CD, even flashing through windows is better than using a stiffy (presuming you can get into windows).
