Idle electricity usage.

No, Ellies in Epping Cape Town.

Think Booysens is in PTA, I know Ellies has a shop close to koeksuster kruising (Kerk/Duncan - Hatfield)

I think my thermostat on the geyser busted it runs on full even if no water has been used.

You have it on a timer now iirc, that's why it's spiking at those times, so It's seems like busted thermostat, but Difficult to tell since you can't monitor the temp, you could even have a hot water leak somewhere meaning you are loosing stored hot water as well

Replace the thermostat. You can DIY it if you're reasonably competent.

Take the thermostat out, connect to a multimeter set to measure resistance and see if it switches ON and OFF when the probe is inserted into a kettle of boiling water. If you have a thermometer, you can even check the temperature settings sort of.

If your thermostat is stuck permanently on, the water will be boiling hot! I nearly burned myself in the shower this week.

On my thermostat it is very easy to determine the exact on-off temperature range, since the setting can be varied, and you hear a click as it turns on and off.

Replacing a thermostat can be easy if it is the right model, and access to the geyser is simple. I did mine in under 10 mins, but I (mostly) know what I am doing.

My old lady had a leak in the geyser that was dripping, causing the water to have to constantly be heated. Could be a problem aswell.

The pressure valve does leak when the water is heating.

I have easy access to the geyser, but changing it to solar with the whole geyser wise thing soon so this should sort itself out.

Contact your insurance. It's probably burst, that's what happened to one of mine.

Solar conversion is not a requirement to implement a Geyserwise system.
Check the existing geyser for corrosion and damage before undertaking the solar conversion if you are planning to retain the existing geyser. It is a bit pointless doing a conversion on a geyser that is showing signs of failure.

Most modern thermostats provide for easy monitoring of whether the geyser is on or off. I installed simple monitor light across the thermostat that shows me if the geyser is on or off. The fastest way to be able to detect thermostat failure.

There's something VERY wrong with your geyser.

To put things in perspective: my home used 2.4kwh since I've left for work this morning. The geyserwise will turn the geyser on at 18:00 to heat the water to 55 degrees C so it will yank another unit or so from the usage.

Bear in mind its raining in CT and its school holidays so at least two of my TV's are on at any given time with the kids at home. Those TV's grab 28w per hour. View attachment 675349
How long does it take for 100L geyser to heat up to 55 degrees?

Morning, happens to my geyser(Tecron-200l) as well, but ~100ml of water, would this be considered normal and within a tolerable range? No real issue until this increases dramatically?

I had my pressure relief valve replaced about a month ago, it was dripping constantly not sure on the amount but there was always a massive wet patch under the drain pipe, now it's only after I have a shower in the morning does it drip by the looks of it, though I think my temp is wrong, we had it at 55 degrees and it was still boiling hot, now we have it at 45 degrees and it feels cooler but no where near 45 degrees. Will need to check that out once the lockdown is over.
