Idols rigged??

What should happen in your opinion?

  • Jason should be the only winner

    Votes: 11 64.7%
  • It is okay, they can share it

    Votes: 3 17.6%
  • They should have a special show and repeat the final round of voting...

    Votes: 2 11.8%
  • Not sure

    Votes: 1 5.9%

  • Total voters
    17
Yeah Idols will never be the same after this debacle. They could have just kept quiet and let things go this time, but by announcing about the irregularities that just happening they are making themselves look like complete idiots. The cellular operators look like total amatuers as their networks cannot handle the amount of sms's. Whatever competition that is and are coming out it will be scrutinizes by the public and have this thought at the back of theit mind that the show is rigged.

What i can't understand is that people had a whole week (7 full days). Now they say that the system has been jammed with so much calls and sms's.Why in the past had they never experienced problems?and why suddenly now they have these problems.Of course the system will be working overtime of trying to capture thousands and thousands of votes in like minutes.

They said that the cutt off time is 6h05.So that means if your vote was not counted before 6h05 than its "haaties".They cannot count those votes obviously in time.People had a full week to vote so they should have been strict on the sunday by cutt off time. They are just digging a grave for themselves by saying one thing and then doing something else. You cannot count on votes thatis hanging somewhere. Who knows that there was really votes hanging somewhere or is it just a cover up because people put pressure on Idols because Sasha won.

So i am confused. It could be anything.

My personal opinion, not to sound judgmental is that Shasha deserved to win Idols as she is overall the best winner in my opinion. an Idol should be younger, look and dress like one and also sing pop songs.Jason is older,28 sings older type music and sounds a bit monotomius with his sqeeky Rod Stewart voice.Shasha sings popular "idol"songs like Leona Lewis and even looks like her.She appeals more to the younger folk then Jason. Now people don't get offended as i am just giving my personal opinion.

But now we have 2 winners that just make everybody happy. If this was the elections it would be a complete joke if they announced that the ANC has won, but a few days later the IEC says that there were ballods "hanging" somewhere that was not counted and then afterwards COPE has won.Imagine what kind of message is that going to send out to all the people that voted. No confidence in our democratic goverment.

Would like to hear your opinion about this topic.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Please. You can not compare this to politics.
In politics there are very strict rules and regulations. Mnet just make up the rules as they go along. :p

My personal opinion. Exactly the same thing happened in previous voting rounds and probably previous seasons of Idols and they got away with it. When everyone got suspicious and started asking questions they were forced to do an audit and blamed it on this or that.
Somebody already posted this and I ask it again. Did everyone who voted for Jason wait until the last 5 minutes before voting? It would by ridiculous to believe that 400 000 votes were cast in the the last 5 minutes. That is 20% of all the votes
Like the title of this thread asks. Idols rigged? YES.

Jason has been the winner since Idols started. They tried to steal it away from him, and it backfired! He deserves that title more than that little plastic poppie. She won one competition, If she had anything in her, she would not even have entered into another reality show and give people that deserves to be there a chance too. Pixie, Lize and Suzie were all better singers. Sasha Lee screams more than what she sings!

candy i dont wana sound mean but at least she had the guts to enter idols its the least i can say about you.... its easy to watch and give your cheap 2 cents especially if its somebody like you who doesnt the guts and talent to enter

Rexter, a word of advice - our two cents worth is what puts those people on stage. Rant elsewhere if you think others should keep their opinions of public figures to themselves cos it aint happening in here ;)

Hey Candy, this is Africa - when Tsvangarai beat Mugabe fair and square, he was given the second place in a government headed by the number 2 man... it sucks big time but it's TV... they would have seriously lost their credibility completely (not just SA Idols but the international brand too) if they had overturned it so they decided to pretend they got the exact number of votes each IMO.

 Don't go spoil my only thread that got more than 5 replies :o. Like Antowan said. Keep it clean.

I see that Mara wants Sasha to hand over the title to Jason. Probably the honorable thing to do but this was not Sasha's fault.

I still wanted Thembi in the final. Maybe if they go and audit the votes in that period when Lendell kept going through they will also find some missing votes.

My personal opinion is it's a money generating scheme for the networks, in this case, M-net - I lost interest in these shows after seeing how they are manipulated for audience ratings only, not entertainment - and all of them are the same, rigged from the start.

I don't think there's one of these shows that doesn't include some form of "viewer participation" via voting through SMS or similar, which equals big revenue for them on a daily/weekly basis. The audience are gullible in thinking that their "vote" counts, where at the end of the day, the decision to vote out a participant is already pre-determined to create tension and higher viewership, simple... :D

Think about it carefully. When a show starts and you have your "favourite" participant, you vote for them; how do you feel when they get voted out? Angry, depressed, cheated? But you still continue to watch the show, yes? And you select the next "favourite" participant, yes? And you vote for them, yes?
...and so the cycle goes on...

Bubblegum for the mind these shows - don't take them so seriously, and don't keep throwing your money at them... :p
