If you could only pick one device, which one would it be?

Oh that's easy, a desktop PC. I'm too far down the rabbit hole that is PC gaming and although I may want to own a tablet or laptop for the sake of convenience..I just cannot see myself sacrificing the versatility, modability, screen size and sheer POWER of a decent rig ^

And although my current rig has Intel/Nvidia parts, I'd definitely want a top-end Ryzen/Vega beast.
 
With a laptop you can't make calls and tablet is too bulky

I'll go with the latest top of the range laptop and sneak in a 3310. No one will notice.

I still prefer my desktop PC. Large monitor, Ubuntu software, 1 terabyte HDD, 4 Gb memory, WebAfrica fibre and router, HP printer .
It does banking, medical business, investments, tax returns, news feeds, email, research browsing.
Maybe because I am 77 and small screens are hard to read.
 
Got to be a cellphone. Something with like a 10000 mah battery irrespective of brand.

Well I think you need to exclude phones - they're fundamentally different from a computing device imo.

An iphone and an ultrabook is "enough" devices though.
 
As I'm moving towards the end of my life (terminal illness), I'll not think too long term. But if it were only one device... still a difficult choice. As the parameters of the question are wide enough, it seems to me, to include possibly non-existent as yet features, I'll dream a little. The question actually demands at least some inspirational dreaming. It would need to be portable, have a large touchscreen, lots of storage, good sound, exceptional battery life... I'd settle, at minimum, for the largest highest end android tablet with at least 128GB on-board memory, extensible with fast micro SD by 256GB, high end processor, WiFi (2,4GHz and 5GHz) and LTE plus or whatever the latest in communication technology is, Nokia-type high end front and back cameras, USB 3 and micro-USB ports, the latest in Bluetooth tech and Bluetooth headset (at least 5.1/Dolby/DTS capable), automatically rooted or with so much on-board memory as to make the latter requirement redundant... I reckon that's probably enough dreaming for now.
