I just got an e-mail from IS by way of Webafrica warning me that I have downloaded illegal software (Terminator Salvation), that IS has my IP (which they do) and that they will block and blacklist me should I continue.

Do they actually do that? They say I should stop using Bitorrent, even though I used Vuse. Has any of you guys ever been blocked and/or blacklisted? Should I rather work with secure torrents, is there another way of getting around it or should I just quit while I'm ahead?

Can they fine and/or charge me with a crime?

tell them to go fusk themself and stop spying on you. The patriot act does not apply in south africa, Its against your civil and human rights

Plenty of them over the last 5 years. IS never did anything. If I remember right IS is just sending on the threat from Sony Entertainment or something. I have always blissfully ignored them. They stop service I stop payment. They get boggerol from Sony Ent. Do the math.

QFT... know/protect your rights, no one else will do it for you.

Ok not being funny or anything because I am not innocent in the whole matter, but what you just said is just >.<

Theft is theft no matter how you justify it. Whether or not we can be prosecuted for it is another matter, but to think we have a right to steal something is beyond belief.

He must have been talking about rights to privacy. I agree with you though.

Are you using uncapped?

You cannot be charged with a crime because download pirated is not illegal, selling them is.

the makers of terminator would have to sue you or make a case against you and i doubt they will worry about poor South africa :D.
