This is just stupid. Grus friend played for R1000, thats 100 sms's.
I cant see myself sending 100 sms's to win a prize!!:eek:

The other people are just.... I dont know no excuse. Theres alot of stupid people with cellphones, probably using Samsung:p

This is illegal gambling / gambling without a license.

It has extremely little to do with the Lottery Board. Once again, the freaking governmint get it wrong, and the illegal gambling will continue.

What is supposed to happen is that Vodacom is closed down for illegal gambling.
If this was me doing the same thing on a freaking website, i'd be closed down in 2 days max.

But nooooooo ... lets draw in the Lottery Board????????

WOW - I thought I was the only victim! I participated in the BMW Competition, and when I only had 1040 entries, Vodacom sent me an sms saying that I am one of the TOP participants, and that I must not stop. After that I participated the whole week, and they sent me only ONE sms to say that my bill is high R1,800. Not being so high, I kept on sending sms's. I phoned Vodacom's Customer care line to find out how the draws work, after which I was told it is not really a draw, and that every day, NOT JUST ON SUNDAYS, each person with the most entries win... I ended up with more than 132,000,000 entries! The Monday morning I was phoned by a lady telling me that my bill is HIGH and if I don't pay at least half of the amount, being R 39,000, my cellphone serv will be suspended. I nearly fainted! My contract being in my fiancè's name, made me extremely worried, and even suicide crossed my mind MORE THAN ONCE! I received my Statement dd 03/02/2008 via e-mail = R 51,358-91 !!! How can it be possible ???!! I kept quiet about this, beacause I did not know what to do, untill I saw the article on the Front Page of the Rapport on 10/02/2008. PLEASE HELP ?

How exactly does this competition work? If you send one SMS are you charged R10, or if you send one SMS are you charged R10 daily for the rest of the competition?

R10 per SMS

so if you send 100 SMS'es it would set you back with a R1000.

argh, vodacom.co.za is down atm, wanted to verify it. But, AFAIK, it's R10 per SMS.

And (as I understand it) you receive an SMS back urging you to enter in order to increase your chances of winning. (That's what I understand happens, you send an SMS in, and receive one back).
