I'm COPE-ing this Year!

Yes I have, but I'm praying they will not.

You better pray damned hard..... I think the chances that they"rejoin"the ANC are very high considering they're in dire finanial straits and when they realise the people don't actually see them as the saviour of SA they won't hesitate to jump back into the gravy boat.

I can see the headlines now.
COPE CROSS THE FLOOR TO JOIN WITH THEIR ESTRANGED COMRADES

SAPA-REUTER

Today in parliament COPE the party that broke away from the ANC has in the spirit of forgiveness in the New South Africa chosen to cross the floor in order to "help" the ANC govern the Rainbow Nation. A COPE spokesman who asked to remain anonymous has explained. " We have made thisdecision in order to battle the "3rd and Dark Force" ad ifinitum blah blah blah...

Hmmm well I'm giving them a chance which I think they more than deserve.

Just a question...wasn't floor crossing done away with..?

I don't think COPE and ANC would work together. They don't much like one another. The only reason I'm not voting for them is that I think they've lost the plot since originally forming. They chose a silly Presidential candidate, there's a lot of infighting and I don't like Alan Boesak. When they first separated from the ANC I was going to vote for them, but as the months rolled by they seem to have lost all the energy they originally had.

Lekota had some interesting things to say back in the day, but these days you don't hear much about COPE anymore.

DA have little to no chance and cope have the only real chance of doing anything. So i am not voting because they say this or that aqua like you asked because at the end of the day all parties talk up a bunch of nonsense.

I am voting for the party i think most likely to stop the anc getting 2/3's and who knows might have a real chance of beating them.

Da vote is a waste and i would rather not vote than waste mine, also calling someone an idiot for voting for cope is just down right pathetic.

When it comes time for MP's to vote for things in parliament, do you really think the COPE guys won't vote the same way as ANC?

A vote for COPE is basically a vote for the ANC.

You sir, are an idiot

They are most certainly going to work with the ANC after the elections... COPE is just a sub-division of the ANC.
The humongous ANC will also swallow a few smaller parties after the elections

Regardless of peoples worries about COPE joining the ANC you don't start insulting someone because they are voting differently to you. It's petty!

Seriously, there is no such thing as a wasted vote in our proportionally based electoral system... what is a waste is not voting.

That's weird, even on BBC news they call the DA the official opposition.

Personally I think having a new party like COPE for this elections is a good thing, the more options the better. I also don't have a problem with the ANC being popular amongst most of the population, the ANC has good policies(on paper at least).

I would be worried if the most popular party was a black supremacist party with it's official slogan being 'kill whitey'.

Don't agree with you here I'm afraid. A vote for any party other than the ANC can stop them getting 2/3rds. COPE have pretty much the same chance of beating the ANC as DA, which is to say not a very good one. Most of the recent polls put COPE support at between 8 and 15% somewhere, meaning they'll probably get slightly more or slightly less than the DA.

I think chances are good that the ANC will lose their 2/3 majority. I think equating voting anything else other than COPE as wasting your vote is silly. Everybody that can vote should vote and should vote for any party other than the ANC.

+1. Well said. Saying that a vote for the DA is a wasted vote is a rather ignorant way of looking at things.
