I'm drunk!

What kind of dog is this?

My wife brought this piece of **** home. At first I hated the bitch (both), but she grew on me.

It looks like a Pekingese crossed with a Maltese, we have 3 pekes, awesome little dogs, very affectionate and playful and love attention. Make sure you get pet medical aid from birth, they can have lots of eye problems and later in life spinal issues, all 3 of our have had eye ops and we adopted one who was a bit older and he has developed a compressed disk in his spine and is on permanent chronic meds. We dont have pet medical aid for any of them and trust me the vet bills aint cheap.

Otherwise, thanks for the tips.

I really am not a dog person, but my wife brought her home and like I alluded to, I really didn't like her at first. Fast forward a few weeks and I'm the one feeding her, she greets me at the door and jumps on the bed with me looking for attention. She's adorable!

You may or may not know, but I'm in the process of getting divorced. And obviously won't be able to take her with when the wife and I part ways, but I really, really love her.

Hence me looking to buy or adopt two

You jest.

My neighbour came over earlier and kakked me out over me not giving my dog water....

I might be a ****, but the first thing I do when I get up and put on the kettle, is to see to my dog.

The po3s then threatened to call the SPCA. Notwithstanding the fact that he just barged into my house...jisis I'm angry all over again.

Fukcc him and fukcc you!
So he saw the bowl was full of water then told you you need to give the dog water? Im more inclined to believe a flat earth loser.

Dont get anything which requires responsibility

Who would you rather believe?

A drunk nai who at least looks after his pets or an old nai who has nothing better to do than to peep over my wall every 5 seconds to see if I gave my dog water? Lest the fact that it was raining last week and on the other side of the house there's a whole bucket full of water that the dog can indulge into at will.

PS. Lost my phone

The old nai, every time.

1) Ask your wife what the breed is.

Or

2) offer to buy her from your wife and offer a good price

Walk in the nude, he will look over once and then never again.

Sorry to hear bud, if you thinking of adopting, check out pekehaven, they can probably assist with someone in your area. Pet medical aid is like petsure or i think momentum offers a pet medical aid, its like R100-200 per month but they will cover any surgeries etc they dog may need so its a goo thing to have which we unfortunately never got when they were puppies so they wont cover half the issues they have. il give you an example of our situation, my wife and I dont have kids so our dogs are treated like kids, my vet knows me pretty well already, the oldest peke is 13now ( we got him about 5 years ago as a rescue, his not the same sleep all day and not do anything dog anymore, his more like a puppy now, destructive little bugger and gets hyper active in the evenings) he is on chronic meds for a compressed disc, he can go for surgery to sort it but thats 25k which we cant afford due to no pet medical aid and his so old he may not make it off the table, his a happy boy and doesnt seem to be in pain, his back legs just dont work as fast as his front legs due to the signal from his brain being delayed due to the compressed disc in his back but his all good on just meds, his had a R3500 eye surgery to remove a growth a few years ago and chronic meds are around R250 per month for the past few years already, oh and his teeth are falling out so he can only eat soft food. Middle female peke is about 10 and a bit more resilient, she has only had an eye surgery due to a scratched cornea (ran into a tree branch) and then ripped the stitched out a day later and had to go back to get restitched, total bill was around R6000. Then my little baby, the youngest is 8, she has had an eye surgery for scratched cornea (playing rough with the other female) at R3500, then she has bladder issues, special food at around R500 per month, to diagnose the bladder issue was another story, multiple scans, an xray, they had to stick a needle into her bladder for a urine sample and send it off to the lab for some special tests, all in all it was also a few grand in vet bills.

My advice make sure you willing to put a lot of money into looking after a peke, they aint cheap and if you buy a purebred from a breeder you looking at R3000+. Only our male rescue has papers and is a purebred, i dont care if they purebred, other 2 were bought off gumtree from private people whos dogs had puppies, i wont support breeders. But its not about the money, i do whatever i can to give my babies the best home and care i can give them.

Yeah, he is spot on with the pet insurance. It paid out almost R7k for us earlier in the year when the dog was sick, we had to add another R3k iirc. But 3 is better than 10.

Yip luckily we have savings to fall back on but after these 3 if we ever get more dogs, pet insurance for sure and 1 dog at a time. to feed these 3 savages is a nightmare LOL. Oh and @The_Ogre my dogs wake up between 3am and 4am to be fed breakfast LOL. It wasnt always like that, but since last year they wake up early, i think its the birds chirping that wakes them LOL

This one sleeps in the wife's room. She triggers the alarm if we don't keep her in a room at night. The bedroom and bathroom zones are off at night (for obvioous reasons  ). So as soon as the wife opens the door, she runs to the lounge and then barks at our other (big) dog that sleeps outside. We have a sliding door in the lounge so then the two of them greet each other through the glass.

It's quite funny actually. The go crazy at each other, but the moment you open the sliding door, they just smell each other. I'm not sure what breed the big dog is either. We also got it the same way: the wife just pitched up with it at home. Used to be a friend's dog.
