I'm officially a nerd again :(

I have the issue now where I can't see them stupid road signs so lekker. Only when I get close. Luckily it doesn't affect my driving in any way.... well let's just say I've tried driving with them glasses.... eish it does not work.... :p

A newspaper article recently stated that artificial lenses are in development that will reach markets in ~10 years. These lenses will be so flexible that they can restore perfect eyesight.

Bring on my bionic eyes!

I'm not too convinced. If you spend prolongued times looking at an object at a certain distance then your eyes easily focus at that distance but find it more difficult to focus at other distances. I used to spend a lot of time reading and have ended up with glasses. My eyes struggle to focus at distances other than books and my computer screen...

It's not merely a case of focus; in the case of shortsightedness, the eyeball is slightly longer than it should be; that makes it impossible to focus on objects at distance. I don't know of any physiological way for short-distance focusing to make the eyeball longer. From what I've seen, it seems to be more genetic than anything; I was shortsighted before we had TV or personal computers in SA.

You don't sound too straight there, Tera.... "I can live without girls".... "bite me...."
