Got my glasses today :o, which I must wear when driving and need it before I can write my learner's.

If you are young, 17, 18, 19 and love your computer, please take my advice and don't use a 60hz display, try to opt for something either 85hz or higher and even a protective cover.

It was 4 years ago that I last had my eyes checked by my optometrist and my eyes are so bad today that even she became frustrated when testing them.

Everyone loves their pc, but I love mine a lot :p Now I'm a real geek/nerd, again :(

;) :D :p

Some people look normal with glasses(really!). I hope your one of them buddy

I don't. I've got a cool frame (Oakley), but it still sucks dude, I look like a freaking troll :o

Lol. Well then i guess your screwed tera.
But i like the fact that your willing to laugh at yourself.

Luckily (most?)girls aren't that picky when it comes to a guy's looks, so you should be okay:)

Are they like really thick glasses?

If it wasn't for that quote in sigs thread yesterday then that quote would go into my sig.:p

Not too convinced about your PC screen theory though. I spend about 10x as much time in front of a screen as the rest of the family and I've got the best eyesight by far. Admittedly @85hz.

Girls are not the priority, I can live without them :p

No, it's not that it's a thick lens at all, but the frame is quite thick. I know I chose the right frame though (for wearing glasses & helmet), so I guess I'll have to live with it.

I'm having a heck of a time at the moment with my perception of "depth", things look further than they are :p

My bugger up is I used to work on a small 14" CRT @ 60hz for about 5 years, I couldn't afford anything else at the time.

My laptop only goes up to 60hz, but it's an LCD, so I doubt it's that bad for me ;)

Laptops don't "flicked", so that's not a problem. I think the problem is more to do with the distance to the screen being constant than the flicker. The flicker might 'feel' like its hurting your eyes, but it's not actually damaging them.

Well, the optometrist blames the pc and even told me today I spend too much time in front of it :p Who am I to disagree? :D

Contact lenses?

I have this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astigmatism_(eye)

Basically, I can wear contacts, but I'd rather wear the glasses and be sure that it's sorting out the problem. To be honest, the longest I've worn my glasses 4 years ago, was about for a year, then I just stopped, because it frustrates me.

I'll see how it goes, it's hurting like hell at the moment and it's really uncomfortable, but my optometrist says my eyes will relax later.

I've been wearing my glasses since I were in std 9.

My eyes are so bad, without them I cannot even recognize my own mother at a distance of 5 metres.

Hehe..... I have Pumas.... they are quite nice... luckily I don't have to drive with mine :D
:p

My eyes are so bad that I can't read anything on a computer screen from more than 20cm away without my specs. I've been wearing them since Grade 2 (long before I was sitting in front of a PC) and thankfully my eyes haven't worsened in over 10 years.

p.s. LCDs FTW! There are many benefits to a 24" screen :D.

Sucks to know, I would really cry if my eyes were that bad :p

nice. I got diesel's...

To be honest, Oakley Shmokely in my opinion. I could care less about a label than anyone on this planet :p I don't think I own any "label" clothes :D But they are nice though, just have to test it with my helmet.
