So last night this 24GB white stupid cell c modem worked fine, now this morning when i connect with Connector I get this message:

The connection attempt failed.
Please make sure you are connected to a computer and your settings are correct.
would you like to atempt to conect? yes/no

so then I went to menlyn Cellc and that lady is a idiot like the rest of thier staff, then she sent me to centurion, and that guy is a nob aswell!

he took of the new "connector" software and reinstalled the old software, now I cant connct because it says something about a phone book entry!

I managed to come online now through manualy connectiong at the bottom of the screen... but still this is bullshiz!
Why did the stupid software just stop working???
gosh I hAAAAATE cellc!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Excuse the bad spelling but im really upset!

1. Connect string is *99#
2. Windoze is frequently changing connection properties if you have some other modem driver installed and your USB modem is not plugged in yet. Check connection properties whether your USB modem is selected and try again.
3. Modem is not stupid when working. :)

yes... does it with MDMA also....Win7 it seems to like to default to the wifi or other modem & not switch back - when it does that it also needs the *99# re-entered in the ph number field

It hasn't been changed since XP. And dialing number is only memorised when connect attempt is successful. :)

Menlyn Cell c people are useless, they too told me to go to the centurion branch, cause they dont have a computer to put the zte modems in to. I too am having issues with my modem, and nothing i try seems to help, although i havented entered the *99# in the ph number field, since it wasnt there the first time i installed the modem and it was working for two days.

Sasha, When you attempt to dial and it happens that you forget plug-in your USB modem first, Windoze is trying to find a modem for your connection and cannot find it, it takes the first one from the list of non-plug-and-play modem installed on your system. It mess-up with your connection setting permamently and it is a known bug in Windows which hasn't been corrected for 10 years or more.

So how do I fix it step by step?

In XP:
- go to Control Panel -> Network Connections
- second button on the item created by Connector (you have to figure out which one)
- select properties
- There is a list "Connect using", select your modem, deselect any other
- re-enter phone number *99# if neccessary, press OK

Now you can dial this connection - directly or from the Connector.
