im thinking about getting a XBOX360

Ok here's the thing.
I have been looking online, reading till my eyes bleed, comparing xbox360 to ps3 and what I can understand is u pay your ass off for a console that looks sharper ( I think it has higher resolution too ) and it can run linux and go online and what have u.

Call me old fashioned but I like the internet on my pc along with my linux so that doesn’t really buy me any points. Along with the 7 controllers. ( even 4 I think is too much ) and I have been getting most of my information from here http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/xbox360_vs_ps3.asp
And I have been looking at the differences in graphics ( on the same games. U cant really compare a games graphics that’s only on the ps3 to a game on the xbox ) and got some screens and they look pretty much the same ( no difference that’s worth the price gap )

Any advice as i'm going to be buying my ( first ) console most likely on Friday.
Cos the way I c it there always was a demand for ps2 games and there was lots of games to choose from. But the original xbox got second preference. And I don’t want in 6months or so to have a paperweight

help :(

The Xbox 360 has more exclusives that the PS3, a better online service and the gfx so far have been equal to or better than the PS3.

It has already sold 10 million units so it ain't ever going to be a paperweight and it has by far the most titles available for it today....

It's an easy choice at the moment, the PS3 is overpriced
 
well it seems that the xbox cr4ps all over the ps...but thats just my opinion ;)
 
yeah if you're gonna go for the x360, rather wait for the Elite....dunno when our 3rd world of a country will get it though
 
It is meant to be released in the UK in the Summer (June/July) we are generally day and date with the UK releases so expect it the same time...

I don't see any reason to wait though unless you need HDMI. We don't get the HDTV shows yet so we don't need the large HDD and it looks better in White :D
 
it does look better in white ! lol black consoles was last gen.

buy a xbox you wont regret it.

I'm still stumped at the ludicrous price of the XBox games though.

I would recommend getting an xbox instead of a PS3...purely for titles....M$ KNOWS that titles sell consoles. Xbox has the most exclusives and will undoubtedly getting more. M$ has deep coffers to buy exclusives!!

Nice to see we are getting the classic ranges though, you can now pick up some good games for under R250

bought me carbon for R300 on the XBOX360 and i dont yet have the console....

Hey Gangstar,

i'm going to chip in and say get the 360 as well. for the following reasons:

1. (Exclusive)Content
2. Graphical prowess
3. Superior online gaming
4. Price
5. Head start


Contrary to what you may have heard in the press, the 360 outshines the PS3 graphically (http://dpad.gotfrag.com/portal/story/35372/?spage=1) and also has the bigger selection of games currently and a massive advantage in forthcoming exclusives (there's a lot of multiplatform games as well). The online play is also in a different league.

The 360 currently has an install base of over 10 million units and has one of the highest attach rates of any console in history (about 5 games per console, 3 for the Wii, and 2 for the PS3) by comparison there are an estimated 2.5 million PS3's out there with the 360 outselling the PS3 on a month by month basis.

From a developer perspective, because the 360 was out first by a year and has a better development platform, multiplatform games are typically being written for the 360 and ported to the PS3 (which is why there are a number of complaints about low frame rates on PS3 MP ports)

From a PS2 perspective, don't count your chickens before they hatch, only 74% of PS2 games will play properly on the PS3 we get here. Microsoft has the cash to steal exclusives away from Sony at an alarming rate, as well as put out some really great ones of their own.

. . . and the list goes on. The 360 is just hitting it's stride, the PS3's just getting it's nose out the gate.

On Pro versus Elite. It's your call. Unless you already have an HDMI ready TV, the port is really a bit of a non issue, it doesn't add any new features, and the 120Gb drive . . do you need it? I haven't run out of space yet, and it's going to cost about R4500-R4800, I don't think it's worth it. (worst case with the pro, you buy the HD later)

EDIT: Doh ! all that for nutting ;) go for it dude. You must get Gears of War btw, it's mandatory :p
 
Can anybody tell me where is a good place to get a Xbox360 in SA?, cause im in the UK atm and the cheapest you can get for the Pro system is ₤270, which works out to R3780....;)

im curious as well. can anyone explain about the 20GIG HDD can u copy things on there ( like movies and watch it off the HDD )

i've done that already but the games are really hard to come by :confused:
