Imagine Uncapped Feedback

Hey Necuno,
Yeah, we run a helpdesk service 24 hours a day from 6am Monday to 6am Saturday. Covers all our business customers very well but now that we're entering the ADSL arena I think we will need to run a full 24/7 service.

I have noticed that MWeb close at 10pm but 7 days a week, so there are other ways of doing it but think it would be all or nothing for us. Although, I'd love to see a larger ADSL customer base before I push this through the Board... which relies on the IS Basic Uncapped product working well. Also, with a potential MWeb deal around the corner I am hoping that we'll be able to offer almost every ADSL/connectivity product on the market.

Therefore, you choose and stay with Imagine no matter what product and add-on services you want to benefit from. We just make sure you get the best customer service in the market...

Yeah I got my user/pass at 00:06 this morning.... pity I only woke up at 5 to put it in my router :D

Adsl lightning fast today.....
Thanks ppedrick

..... and speed limited again  .... not....

Speeds were awesome over the weekend though.

Blip or slight improvement?

I've been getting this kind of response this morning:

IS ADSL Local Speed Test to Internet Solutions Rosebank Data Centre
Please wait testing speed now...
Start Time: 07:35:15
End time: 07:35:31
Download Size: 409600 bytes
Time Delta: 15.77605009079 seconds
Download Speed: 25 KBytes/s
Line Speed: 200 kbits/s

That's a bit better assuming 384k...
If you can get decent evening & weekend speeds and half to 2/3rds day time, then I think I'd be happy with that. What about you lot?

I think it's reasonably acceptable. Except, except, except that this also applies to even the business protocols (ie we have to browse at max 20-25KBps for websites too, which is slow :) )

This is the speeds we get during the day (6am to 6pm). Sometimes, as you'd have heard, it drops to 10-15KBps.

i'd be ok if 4 meg drops to 1meg during day, but below that no imho.

edit:
thought why are we talking about this, is the uncapped accounts going to be limited in speed during the day now ?

**** i wish telkom was as efficient as imagine IPS, still waiting for them to come and fix my line so my router can sync :(

I'm still an advocate of full line speed all the time, although I am trying balance perception of a decent service and give the guys @IS as much leeway as possible. This is still a very new South African concept and one that they were not very keen to do. So if there's a turning point that we can start telling them how good they are and patting them on the head rather than continually complaining then it might also see some better results. ;)

Froot - I'm not sure how much you should be trying to rely on this account for business use yet. It is speciaifically designed for home users with exceptions. Again, I'm hoping that it will all get better so that we are just selling one ADSL account to all... (or maybe two to allow for small and high usage) - but right now it's a bit of stretch to ask for the best of all worlds. :(

Sorry, maybe you misunderstood.... by business protocols I meant http, etc. I work from home (and a full blown business account isn't worth the while for me) so my usage is split between work and non-work stuff. With the websites that contain all the fancy flash and images, 20KBps isn't enough for the sites as this would mean it takes us 1min to download a 1Meg flash site.

Edit... but at the end of the day, if we're stuck with this, it won't mean that I'd leave.... :)

@Peter,

If I can get around 200kb/s as a minimum, I would put up with it, but 384 kb/s html can't even be described as a fastish speed, so IMHO it shouldn't be throttled in any way. 384 should be the bare minimum.

Yeah - I agree bekdik... although one fight at a time...
IS service levels and then Telkom's unnecessary profiteering from line speed. :D

:(

Slooooooow. Can't even download my Gmail attachments (an 85KB pdf took over 30 seconds).

Is it just me or is international dead? No Skype, Gtalk, intl nothing...

Yup - looks like we've lost international... AGAIN!!
Will pay more attention when I see people running around outside my office next time!

P.S. unsure on SAIX yet, although we are supposed to have failover for certain clients. Will ask now and edit this thread.

EDIT: Just Seacom is down :(

EDIT2: Just had our acount dept bitching as it seems that a high number of people did not pay for their ADSL bills at the end of the month because of last week's mess ups. Let's hope that this is a short one as we really don't want even more people annoyed at us over something that is out of our control... and we could really do without losing even more revenue because of them.

BTW - we launched Network Status Notifications from IS last week. As you can see, they are even slower than me at updating their clients... 2:42pm when the outage was 2:10pm. :(

Seacom Outage - 04 May 2010 at 14:10
Hi Friends,

We have just received news that there is another Seacom cable outage up North.

We do not have more information currently, but engineers are attending.

Backup links are currently being fired up.

Slow to non existant international speeds will be experienced whilst the fault is resolved.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

More information will be provided as we receive it.

Kind regards
MrBEEP
