Imagine Uncapped Feedback

Nah - but thanks mate... we got him :D

He'd mistakenly created two accounts for you - one he did with you live (when you were on the phone or live chat) and then the other later on... he just decided that the best way to get out of it was to dig a bigger hole.

Really have no idea how he managed to sound like he couldn't speak English either. Must have been mild panic!

I'm really sorry for the madness around all of this and hope that you've had a great experience with our guys otherwise. Now we've found out what was going on it's kinda funny - but before there were a few knives out.

Let me know if there's anything you need. (internet related only!)

Cheers

P.

Heh no problem was just a bit confused with the email!

It looks to me as if all speed issues have been more or less sorted now. My latency is also fine now (30-50 for local, 200-300 for intl, depending on continent, shaping)
Is it just me or is it being shaped at weird hours during the week? 6am to 6pm..... Getting full speed on 384 outside of these hours. Getting about 20-30MB per hour on p2p/news during peak times.

Just a pity port 443 is shaped (heavily) during peak times. My vpn runs on SSL and it's dead during the day :(

Edit: This is for the 384kbps package, so I cannot comment on the 4Mbps package. It looks as if the same issues are being seen straight across IS with 4Mbps packages.

That would really be awesome news Froot. Although I was looking at a friend's downloads last night and he was only getting 30kbps on his 4MB line.
Keep me informed if anything changes as we're also really keen to find out where the problem areas are and see what's exchange and what's network issues.
Thanks
P.

It seems 384kb users are having DECENT returns on their money, the issue is that they 4meg guys are getting the same speeds.

This weekend I was getting DISGUSTING speeds again, Saturday I couldnt break 30kbps, yesterday I was getting around 80.

Yeah my 384 speeds were 100% all weekend. It's just this morning that everything's really horrible. Http is very very slow.

Bugger..... http is so slow that http downloads (program updates) only partially download before timing out. Some go as slow as 2KBps when trying it with a download manager. Firefox bums out at 10KBps with page loads.

Hey Froot,
Email our helpdesk at imagine.co.za and they will look in to it. I know that they have a couple open tickets on this already with others.
Include your line number, login and details so we can escalate this with IS... we're getting reasonable response times from them at the minute. (please let me not have jinxed it!)
Cheers
Peter

Me thinks you jinxed the reasonable response time now :P
Submitted a support ticket this morning. Anxiously awaiting a reply.

I sent a ticket to imagine earlier about my crap speeds, hopefully they can sort it.

Im really not trying to be funny, but there has been nothing but "south" for me where line speeds are concerned. I am getting between 30 and 50kbps consistently!

I am in the same boat. Max of 40Kb/s all the time on torrents and news servers. Connect with Afrihost R29/gig and speeds are 400+ Kb/s

My speeds are better now.... but obviously because it's off peak. Today nothing went anywhere above 80kbps (10KBps).....

Hey guys, we have another product update meeting with IS tomorrow and so will feedback on what they say about all of this.

I have to say that we're as frustrated as you guys and I'm really sorry about it all. It's now 21/22 days since launch and it's not improving for torrents and newsgroups. However, it also seems that sometimes, even the supposed unshapped protocols are having lots of problems.

IS have told us this morning that everything but http, https, RDP, telnet, smtp, ssh and POP3 are shaped... however we also know that RapidShare, which is HTTP, is also shaped. Therefore, we really don't feel we can follow this guide but will give you more clarity when we are certain.

I hope to have a lot more info for you tomorrow evening. :(

Howcome is FTP shaped? It's a business protocol (usually it's http/smtp-pop3/ftp) ?? 15KBps is really really slow :(
I have found that none of my applications running on SSL work.... it bombs out at 6 every morning when the shaping starts.

p2p/news is more or less fine in my opinion. Sure, it's annoying to have to wait for the evenings, but I still manage to get what I want in that time.

Skype doesn't work too well :( .... if you make use of ports 80 and 443, which I do, then I have to use a p2p port for Skype. My messages are often delayed for hours.

Why completely block Steam during the day? No Steam means that I CANNOT open any Steam games during the day, even if just to play single player.... rather slow down the port instead of blocking it completely.

Mate,
I'm bouncing my head right now, with exactly the same questions, and will be mentioning it all in the meeting tomorrow.
If they are going to compete in this price bracket then they must offer a service that means something.
It's now effecting their own brand and the brands of all of their resellers... I just don't get it.
I really hope to have good news for you all tomorrow.
P.

I put in my cancellation today, will rather move to back to afrihost capped pacage.
Uncapped in South Africa still needs time to mature.
