Imagine Uncapped Feedback

Hi ppedrick
I am getting more and more stable speeds these days. RS still won't even try to connect for me, but it's not too much of a worry. HF works fine (10-20KBps during the day) so was able to get what I needed. By using multiple connections I was able to get a decent speed on most things now. Apart from torrents, that is :D

I think that 20KBps (100-200kbps) during the day is relatively fine for browsing. Not fast, but at least it works without timeouts occuring to often.
Will definitely stick around to see IS improve on the product (it's gonna be a winner one day).

And NetLimiter seems to agree with me....

@ppedrick

International broken this morning.

For the record my pop3 connector first failed at 07:00, so it looks like something failed at 07:00, round about the time the non-existent (sic) throttling/shaping takes place.

Morning guys,
Thanks for the feedback and yes... I was just told that SEACOM is down at the minute although I don't have full details yet.

You're the man Peter :D

Glad to hear everyone is aware of the problem! Just 1 of those things I guess!

Yeah, me intl is down too!!! :@

:p

But on the other side, hotfile works (like a charm nogals).... and at full speed....

OK - found out what's up.... planned maintenance on Sunday morning has been dragged out to today.
Essentially, it looks like the ship that fixes / maintains the cable is having issues.

The downside is that with absolutely zero SEACOM the failover to SAT-3/SAFE and satellite is very likely being prioritised to business traffic first. As the bandwidth provisions are so different I doubt there'll be much until it's fixed.... Monday mornings are heavy usage in the business sector.

Although the upside is that this issue should be solved once the Eassy cable is plugged in place.... I hope!

EDIT: New update - looks like EVERYTHING is down... not international at all... although this would also say that SAT-3 and SAFE is also broken and the satellite has crashed in to the Atlantic. Although, I doubt much of this is true... NOTHING is working for our business and we have some very unhappy customers right now across all areas of our business!

I just received an email about the SEACOM cable being down, seems Openweb are letting everyone know that they should be expecting service interruptions.

They say they "hope it will be back up today" God, that doesn't sound good!!

Are we now Local Only?

Local running like the clappers!!

Sorry guys - forgot to report back this morning due to the panic stations... SEACOM is still down.

Fan-*******-tastic... not! :(

I was able to make use of intl until last night... then it died for a few hours. The this morning at 3am it died again.
While the intl worked, I was able to average out almost 41KBps.... was wonderful while it lasted.
Seacom says that they should be finished by the 27th, but it could go on to the 30th... :(

Yeah nightmare - roll on the next 18 months when the other 2 cables come down and are connected.
I'm starting to feel like Eskom with this massive point of failure... :(

I didnt have any international yesterday before 6PM, after that, speeds were awful, then at around 11 again everything seemed to die. However, I expect Imagine have no control over any of that whatsoever at the moment!

Yeah - am still at home and think that gmail is internetinal still. Therefore will be rubbish until sorted out.

Will doublle check when I get in the office... just had to rant on the crazy 'bandwidth-hog' piece on the front page... the banality and non-news-worthyness of a piece like that is annoying. If you want to promote WUGs then do so... don't use a scapegoat that holds the market back.

I'm starting to question motives and usefulness of the articles here. It seems more like a stream of Press Releases than news.
