Immigrating to the UK

Some of these families could include a spouse and six children. And there’s no guarantee that the spouse is even employable.
You are giving them ideas! In some countries they have that base income figure then an additional £x per child.

Well I the £38k will more than cover it, then. ;)

I suspect this will shake things up in places like Birmingham and Luton, especially.

Man this wind is quite the vicious turd eh ..... "I'm dreaming of a gale force Christmas"

We got a whooole 30p for charging the car the other day.

Quite fun.
You sound like my boss

He is using some Octopus rate thingy where the rates fluctuate during the day, so he plans he car charger in the cheap hours. I might even say he is becoming a little obsessed.

Two different tariffs, Octopus Tracker has a daily rate and can be used by any customer with a smart meter.

The EV plan is Intelligent Octopus iirc (@Sinbad can confirm) which gives super cheap rates at certain times for charging.

There's also octopus agile. Rate changes per half hour and sometimes goes negative..

That's the one we're on. Can't quite convince ourselves to switch to Intelligent. It's nice getting a bit back for charging every now and then.

Though that's all currently being negated a bit by visiting family for the holidays and having to rely on the local Instavolt chargers.

No big deal, but it breaks my heart seeing all the ultra low electricity prices right now when we're nowhere near home.

Yeah, first paid supercharger session last night. I've been enjoying the 1.5p per mile up to that point

At least tesla prices are better than the other charging networks.

OHH hang on I think I see it.

Before '88, you could have double descent... gotcha.

So I also received successful application earlier this week on my application under the new laws. I will be invited for a ceremony in the next 2-3 months and can then apply for passport.

I was going to go over on ancestral but then this route came up, however it did take almost 8 months for the decision. Even though it took much longer it was the better choice going for citizenship given the proposed and future changes to visas.

Hopefully March I will have my passport and can then do the move that side.

Well yeah. Citizenship and passport is better than any other route to the UK.

Congrats!

This wind...my bin was standing in the driveway in front of the side gate and it blew the bin straight through the gate and broke the hinge in the process...I see there was also a bit of a tornado in Manchester

Car insurance is such a scam.
Premium going up 40% next month. Wtaf.
And yeah I've shopped around, they're all around that much.

Everyone’s car insurance is up. Just renewed the Mrs’ with one of the kids now driving her car. Fun . Can’t wait for my renewal in Feb. :)

Paper bins out last night. Woke up thinking there would be paper all over the road. Decided to shred up all my old bank statements so bin was full of confetti.

Renewed mine a few weeks ago and luckly still the same. Mrs car went up though.

I’m on a local car forum and guys were all having a little rant about insurance going up. I’ve only just hit two years here so what they see as high is still quite a bit lower than what I’m paying. Although the second year was substantially lower than year one. Just moved and when I changed address got a small refund so I’m hopeful that I’ll keep getting lower rates each year despite the increases.
