Immigrating to the UK

Thanks.

But, is it better to buy in SA first?

Dunno, I'd only be concerned about the costs. And looking at for example the MacBooks I was pricing last week, in the UK the MacBook 12 is cheaper by R3k and the MacBook Pro more expensive by nearly R4k. So depends on what you want. But apart from the price, the difference will be in the SA versus UK plug.

Consumer rights over here are awesome so if anything does go wrong with it in the warranty period, expect it to be fixed/replaced asap if you bought it through a reputable dealer.
No vague CPA crap in the UK - they exchange/repair without many issues.

You really can go completely cashless in the UK.

When my wife arrived in the UK she withdrew £100 using her fnb global card. More than two months later and she still has £60 in cash left from that initial withdrawal. Tap and go is everywhere accepted except when she topped up her oyster card. She hasn't used cash since her first week in the UK. She has a Samsung S10+ but prefer using her card to tap and has not setup Samsung Pay on her phone.

England Home Occupancy Question.

What is the lower limit on number of bedrooms allowed for a 4 member family?
Husband, wife and two children.

Which one (travelling with kids):

1. Non stop flight. Costly.
2. 1 stop flight. Cheap.

I expect that if you opt for (2), you will probably want to leave them in Istanbul (or wherever the layover is) when the time comes.

It depends on the age and gender of the children.
When I went over in 2006, my kids had to have separate bedrooms, because an 7 year old boy may not share a bedroom with a 4 year old girl... They could still bath together, but not share a room...
I had top prove that I had a rental agreement in place on a three bedroom house.

And two girls? one a teenager one not. Can they share a room?

Which area in the South of England has the "most" dense IT sector, besides London?

Jobs will be all over really. Best would be to use one of the job search engines and extend the distance out of London

https://www.cwjobs.co.uk/jobs/sap/in-south-east?radius=30

Also depends on where you are going to live and how far you want to travel.

I work in the North West in IT security. There are lots of jobs like in Manchester areas but wouldn't work there for double the salary as the travel on the motorways is a nightmare.
A lot of the guys here live down south, they travel up on Mon and back on Fri. Company pays travel/hotel but they are all single. Not something you can keep on doing.

Also a lot of IT shops let you work remotely. I only go in 3x a week, sometimes twice if no meetings.

Thanks.

And Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey areas?
Ah yeah, sorry. Reread what you asked. Thought it was "south of London".

I work in Berkshire (let's face it, though - it's Slough, innit). Same building as Activision/Blizzard.
