Immigrating to the UK

We used two large cubes from sevenseas.
Service was good and they stored them free of charge for a period while we waited for visas to get the clearance documents sorted.
Only real downside was that they stayed on the truck for loading and because we had two it involved some heavy lifting to fill the one we could only access from the side.
Overall just a lot less admin than a container would be.

What did you bring in 2 large cubes?

We had a single medium, and that was enough for most things excluding furniture and appliances which we brought nothing with.

Rugs, books, pictures, art, kitchen appliances, collectibles, tools, bicycles. Only brought one piece of furniture. We edited it down as much as possible but just have a lot of stuff.
We’ve still got another 50ish boxes of books and vinyls that need to be sent over.
 
So first weekend just me and my children.

I miss the tag team system my wife and I had already but it's going relatively well.

No major tears or tantrums, children are talking out their feelings, I think they are even trying to be patient with each other.

Whatsapp video call every evening with all 3 of us and the 2d wife is also helping :)
 
One thing I have noticed, and it appears to be happening more to me lately, is that when I comment that I moved to the UK in a group chat there seems to be more people eager to point out how **** the UK is and all its problems.
I don't believe the UK is 100% better than SA. They both have their appeal (if SA fixed its political and economy issues then it would be a better country than the UK simply because I grew up there), but I do not think that anyone who hasn't left SA is a fool.
I get the feeling that these people are so eager to make negative points about any other country because they are trying to convince themselves that SA isnt't that bad.

I've seen people giving cost of living percentages and figures that are far removed what I see personally. I believe I live comfortably but according to the figures these people spit out I should be living in a cardboard box. (I could live even more comfortably if I wasn't paying off the debt I have in SA.)

All countries have their own ****. UK has a lot now, next 5 years will be interesting for them

A lot of those people are probably the “can’t leaves”, you can’t really blame them for trying to make their situation seem more comparable to yours as they’re often trapped in their current circumstances.

To be fair the UK is ****, its filled with Saffas.
 
My favourite is people whose only reason for still not wanting to come here is the weather. Like sure, Sipho, enjoy your weather. I’d rather have electricity, water, safety and security, a future, a government that doesn’t steal billions and an unemployment rate of 4%.

I just wish they’d be honest for once and admit they’re so negative about the UK because they CAN’T come here.

If that is what they believe then it’s true. Same can be said for our viewpoint, we just look at the positives that support our view.

What is far worse for me to swallow is folk that have moved here(fairly easily) and find things to complain about. Move back then.
We have the opposite problem, having travelled across this island quite extensively, we can’t decide where to settle once our kids head to uni because there are so many places we love.
